IN MAYBE the quietest week of the year, just a single race was on the calendar, though it was one held in memory of a fellow local runner.

The second of the Stockton Winter 5K trail series took place at Cowpen Bewley; the Gavin Duffy Memorial Race, in honour of the late Billingham Marsh House runner. Amidst some fairly muddy conditions, which caused more than a few falls along the way, Paul Dalton was first home for the club over the two lap route around the woodland park in 19:57 followed by Rob Dent (23:06), Paul Roberts (24:59), Gary Read (28:37), Danny Gordon (28:51), Wendy Noble (31:17), Helen Brown (31:44), Sally Singleton (33:29), Diane Adkins (37:57), Gill Wallis (38:36) and Jane Bell (44:59).

In the Saturday morning parkruns, South Park at least survived the cold weather which caused the cancellation of others in the area. Michael Joyeux finished the run in 17:46, followed by Marc Ellis (19:38), Brian Martin (19:39), Dave Jones (20:07), Dale Chapman (20:22), Mark Robinson (20:47), Dawn Richardson (20:55), Phil Rutter (21:48), Rob Gillham (22:18), David Whittle (22:48), Iain Clyde (23:39), Gary Read (24:04), Sarah Watson (24:08), Rebecca Bowes (25:25), Duncan O'neil (26:51), Julien Deckard (27:09), Lewis Boshier (27:10), Michelle Boshier (27:11), Lee Morris (27:28), David Ledgerwood (28:34), Sally Singleton (29:26), Fiona Dixon (31:24), Michelle Scruby (31:38), Michael King (32:10), Juelz Lee-Deckard (32:51), Jan Waite (34:57), Adrian Dent (40:00) and Ian Bond (41:42).

Over at Redcar, Paul Dalton was first across the line there in 17:58 along with Paul Roberts (21:55) and James Simpson (25:01), Stephen Moore finished at Albert Park in 22:03, while Anthony Corbett headed up to Gibside to complete the run there in 25:39.

Flying the Quaker flag overseas was Lucy Bendle who did the run in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in 33:23.
