Oakleaf Colliery League

 

                The last 100% record was lost when Coxhoe Red Lion lost at Hetton Shepherds, who remain unbeaten in second place. Reigning champions extended their lead at the top with an eight point victory over the visiting Blackhall RAFA Club.

                Individual performances of the week: Paul Jennings of Hesleden Club hit a 180 in an 11 dart leg, the best of the season so far, while team mate, Alan Riley hit 15 and 16 dart legs and a 120 checkout. Paddy Lenagh of Coxhoe Red Lion and Eddie Duffy of Hartlepool Victoria Arms both hit a 180 in 17 dart legs. Jeff Harrison of Houghton Comrades hit a 16 dart leg and Paul Cartwright of Easington Colliery Club B hit a 17 dart leg.

                180s were hit by Reece Allison of Easington Colliery Club B, Tommy Bradshaw and Gary Packard of Shotton Comrades, Matthew Hodgson of Peterlee Pavilion, David Price of Peterlee Hearts of Oak B, Dave Blyth of Wheatley Hill WMC and Colin Simm of Horden Comrades.

                Wolsingham Club B finished the season with a two point win at the Cross Keys to finish 17 points clear of the runners-up from Stanhope Grey Bull B.

                Byers Green Club completed the double when they won the Team Knock Out Final by six points to four.

                The qualifiers for the four-man team knock semi finals were Hunwick Club A, Byers Green Club A, Burn and Willington Club A.

 

Weardale League

 

                Finals evening held at Rookhope Club was a huge success with eight finals completed. The Captains Cup: Neil Peveller 3 Mally Craig 0. Over 50’s: Andrew Atkinson 3 Neil Stobbart 1. Under 50’s: Paul Knighton 3 Michael Thompson 0. Under 25’s: Mark Stephenson 3 Stu Ridley 1.

                Doubles Final: Tim Embling & Jason Beadle 3 John Robinson & Robin Robson 0. Singles Final: Davey Collingwood 3 Jason Beadle 1.

                Bottom 8 Cup; Frosterley Inn beat Cross Keys 7-6. Team Knock Out Cup: Wolsingham Club 7 Bonny Moor Hen 6.

 

Royal Oak Hotel League

 

                The ‘Mini League’ produced a shock for the league champions, Esh Cricket Club when they lost at Tow Law New Market in the deciding doubles. The cricketers had early wins from David Thornton, Jeff Close and Mark East but the Lawyers levelled with wins from John Graham, Tony Chapman and Brian Walton. The first two doubles were shared but in the decider the Market’s Bill Railton and Shaun McGrath beat Close and Thornton.

                The Market qualified for the semi finals with a 5-2 win over Esh Stag’s Head.

                Newhouse Club also qualified for the quarters when they beat the hosts at Alex’s Bar by winning the first two doubles after sharing the six singles and made the semis when they only dropped one point to Esh Football Club.

 

Wear Valley Ladies League

 

                It was a nostalgic final Presentation Evening at Crook Football Club as the league is disbanding after 38 years, having started with 20 teams and ending with just five.

                The Mill House took the majority of the honours with Willington Cricket Club figuring prominently. The Overall Championship Trophy went to the Mill with the Cricketers runners-up and repeated in the Doubles league. These roles were reversed in the Team league, whilst Crook Football Club won the Singles league with the Mill in second place.

                The Team K.O. went to Willington C.C. with the Football Club runners-up. The Team Doubles K.O. Cup to the Mill with Byers Green Royal Oak the runners-up. The Mill took the Team Singles Cup with the Vault in second place. The Mill won both first and second spots in the Iris Morrow Memorial.

                The Open Singles winner was Carol Haygarth with Joan Hall runner-up. The Pairs Championship was won by Lynn Haywood and Emma Davies with Carol and Denise Haygarth runners-up. The House Champion of Champions was Barbara Atkinson with Lisa Hopper the runner up. The best checkout award went to Sandra Sanderson for her 102 out shot.

 

Crook Ladies League

 

                The League Presentation Evening was held in Crook Belle Vue Club, where Tow Law Football Club dominated the trophy collection, having won the Overall Championship, the Singles league, Doubles league, Trebles league and the Team Games league. Their only slip up came in the Team Knock Out, which was won by Crook Belle Vue with the Queen’s Head the beaten finalists.

                Val Readman, the Football Club captain, won the Player of the Season Trophy for the most singles victories.

                The overall runners-up were the Travellers Rest, who won the second place awards in the Singles league and the Team Games league. The Queen’s Head were the runners-up in the Doubles league and the Trebles league.

Weardale K.O. Cup

 

                The draw for the Preliminary Round of the Ladies KO Cup is Rookhope Club v Black Bull.
