BOWES AND Willington WMC met in the final of the Weardale cup for a second consecutive season. Willington were the holders but it was Bowes who came out on top in todays clash at West Auckland.
Tommy Hutchinson opened Bowes account on twenty minutes and Andrew Bellew added a second after thirty five following a free kick. Bowes had the better of first half exchanges though Willington had the ball in the net only to see the "goal" disallowed for hand ball.
The WMC enjoyed their best spell early in the second half though they created few clearcut chances. Wayne Thwaites wrapped up a well deserved Bowes win with their third goal five minutes from time.
