Reigning champion, Terry Singleton lost by the odd point away to Andrew Cuthbertson, and, with only two matches remaining for him, it seems unlikely that he will retain the crown.

Singleton won the first frame and looked like winning the second when he made a 42 break but Cuthbertson clawed his way back to win by one point to equalise. Undeterred, Singleton won the next two frames comfortably to take a two point lead. However, Cuthbertson ground his way back to level the match and went on to clinch victory in the deciding frame.

The frame scores (Cuthbertson first) were 57 – 80; 55 -54; 34 – 60; 12 – 79; 55 – 10; 55 – 21; 58 – 19.

Stuart Green made breaks of 62, 57 and 44 but failed to beat the visiting Phil Hartley, whose breaks of 66 and 50 gave him an odd point win.

Results: Stuart Green 3 Phil Hartley 4; Andrew Cuthbertson 4 Terry Singleton 3.
