SPLASHDOWN can bounce back to form with victory in a competitive renewal of the EBF Upavon Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury.

The three-year-old proved something of a disappointment when only fifth at Newmarket last time but Luca Cumani’s runner is still a filly of potential.

Placed in Listed company as a juvenile, the daughter of Falbrav showed up well to finish fourth behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner and Nassau third Moneycantbuymelove on her seasonal bow.

She then stepped up to beat the highly-regarded Apple Charlotte at Listed level on her next start but her latest run at Headquarters proved a little lacklustre.

Splashdown was evidently floundering in the closing stages of that mile-and-a-half heat so the drop back in trip here should be in her favour and she can resume her rise up the ranks.

Mon Cadeaux is fancied to strike earlier on the card in the EBF Molson Coors Maiden Stakes.

The Andrew Balding-trained two-year-old made a promising debut at Newmarket last month when he trailed Blue Maiden home by half a length.

Having struggled to find his stride, the colt engaged in a brief tussle with the eventual winner before continuing on one-paced in the final furlong.

However, the value of that effort has been significantly boosted after Blue Maiden followed up with a valiant second to Long Lashes in the Group Three Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket.

Mark Johnston can continue his fine record at Hamilton by taking feature race, the EBF Captain J.C. Stewart Fillies’ Handicap, with Fesko.

The front-running filly has been in uninspiring form since her last success at Thirsk, but the handicapper has finally returned her to a realistic mark and she can take full advantage.

The timely return to action of Joe Fanning, who last joined up with the filly when making all at Thirsk in June off just a 1lb lower mark, is an added boost.

At Beverley, Tender Moments is the choice in the Findaproperty Handicap.

Bryan Smart’s charge has plummeted down the ratings but appeared to be on the verge of finding some form with a second to Summer Lodge over course and distance last time out.

Evening racing at Sandown should play witness to a winner for the red-hot Goldolphin outfit when Al Ghazal lines up for the Champagne Lanson Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

■ Gary Moore has ruled thirdfavourite Mourilyan out of next week’s totesport Ebor in favour of another outing in Group company at either York or Newbury.

The Goodwood Cup runnerup is widely quoted at 10-1 for next Wednesday’s famous summer handicap on the Knavesmire, but will instead run in the Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup on the same afternoon or in Saturday’s CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes.

The five-year-old had a brief spell with Moore last summer before being transferred to Herman Brown, where he raced internationally, and was having his first outing for four months when running Schiaparelli to a length at Goodwood.
