Mecca's Angel is an aeroplane! Despite all the anxiety and concerns around the ground, her win in yesterday's Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes was as straightforward as any victory I've had. The result was never in doubt was it?

In the end all I had to do was point her in the right direction and gradually up the tempo. She travelled through the race like a dream and at the two-furlong pole I said 'go' and she did.

I don't think I've made any secret of how much I rate this mare, and she has won pretty easily in the end. That's probably her best performance and she's a very special filly.

She's given me my first two Group 1 wins and it's great for everyone involved. The team at home do all the work and I had the easy job. I am absolutely thrilled.

Hopefully I can keep the momentum going into Saturday and Sir Chauvelin may have just snuck in under the radar for the Betfred Ebor at York.

I see he’s quoted around 33-1 for Europe’s richest Flat handicap after being the final horse to get into the race on Thursday.

He has been in great form this season, winning twice, finishing fourth in the Northumberland Vase and sixth in a Listed race at York last time.

This one mile and three-quarters is his ideal trip and I know his trainer Jim Goldie is confident of a big run.

Air Pilot has a touch of class, as his close-up fifth in last year’s QIPCO Champion Stakes shows, so he should appreciate dropping back down to Group Three company in the Betfred Mobile Strensall Stakes.

I also think the nine-furlong trip will be ideal as will the rain that fell yesterday. I think I have only ridden twice previously for Ralph Beckett, so it’s a very nice ride to pick up. The bookmakers appear generous in offering 10-1 about his chance.

Another who looks better than his odds suggest is Injam, who ticks all the boxes in the Betfred Melrose Stakes . The track is ideal for him and he stays really well, so we will want it to be a real test.

He bolted in last time, albeit it was only a three-runner race. He hasn’t raced on faster than good ground so any more rain will help and Jedd O’Keeffe has had this race as the target for a long time now.

Kyllang Rock, who runs in the Julia Graves Roses Stakes, won nicely at Windsor before finding the Molecomb too hot, although he did race keenly that day. Hopefully, he will acquit himself well.

My other ride is Snoano in the Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Stakes. Tim Easterby’s gelding has been pretty consistent in some of the top handicaps this season, including a fourth in the Old Newton Cup and sixth at Glorious Goodwood last time. His wide draw in 16 won’t help though.

I’m at Chelmsford tomorrow, when Elusivity looks my best chance. He was second over course and distance last time and a repeat of that would put him right there in the Totepool Live Info Download Our App Handicap.

One for the notebook is Bamber Bridge, who won by six lengths on his debut at Hamilton on Thursday night. He’d been working well at home and we expected him to win although he gave me a fright when standing in the stalls when the gates opened!

However, his class shone through and he will clearly have learnt a lot from that. It’s difficult to gauge how good the performance was given his rivals were also debutantes, but we’ve got high hopes for him.
