I rode in the Dante at York, so I saw close-up just how good Wings Of Desire was that day and I think he’ll win the Investec Derby.

He looked a little babyish that day but still got the job done and he will surely come on a heap for that.

He resembles the current dream team of John Gosden and Frankie Dettori and they seemed happy with his spin around Epsom the other day.

If you’re looking for one at a big price then Red Verdon could run into a place. He was supplemented for £75,000 and his trainer Ed Dunlop is absolutely flying. He might have been running in handicaps but he hasn’t stopped progressing and the easy ground and stamina test will be right up his street.

Postponed is not an attractive price, but he should win the Investec Coronation Cup. He looks the real deal and has all the gears. He could be the star of the season.

I’ll be watching on from Musselburgh, where I kick off with Rasaman in the racinguk.com Handicap. I’ve picked up a few rides for Jim Goldie this season and it’s a nice link-up.

The horse is as old as the hills but he likes the track, where horses do well off a strong pace.

Miniaturist, who runs in the Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap, made a pleasing comeback run last month and will improve for that outing. He wasn’t beaten far and should be not too far away.

Poet’s Society looks my best chance in the ebfstallions.com Edinburgh Castle Stakes. He was a very good winner at Newcastle last time. I was riding the third, Kodicat, that day who is a nice filly, so the form looks strong.

At Newcastle hopefully Another Angel can break her maiden in the Nestle/EBF Stallions Novice Stakes.

She is a filly we really like at home and has shown promise for Michael Dods in her two starts. We think this step up to six furlongs will bring out the best in her.

I’ve never ridden a winner for Roger Varian before, but Gibbs Hill could put that right in the Parklands Golf Club Maiden Stakes. He ran green on his debut and should benefit from that experience.

Brilliant Vanguard is a horse keeping an eye on, following his win at Ripon on Wednesday. The form of that race looks really strong and I think he’s a sprinter that’s going the right way.

Paul is sponsored by Racing UK, which is offering a one-month free trial to new customers, who have Sky. The trial includes every race live from the Investec Derby Festival at Epsom and Royal Ascot. See www.racinguk.com/freetrial for more.
