I'm on a bit of a roll with the column, having put up Yala Enki and Arthur's Oak this month.

I am sure to jinx it now but I have a ride tomorrow, which is definitely worth noting. I will come to that later.

First of all it's BetBright Chase day at Kempton and I wouldn't put anyone off backing Tenor Nivernais in the big race.

He’s been a model of consistency this season, winning at Ascot in November, before being placed in three big handicaps at Cheltenham.

He’s been a victim of his consistency as the handicapper has raised him 20lb since Ascot and accordingly has to carry a big weight at Kempton.

That said, three miles around Cheltenham should really suit him and you know you will get a great run for your money. I just wonder if there might be a less exposed horse lurking in the field.

As for my other rides, Cold March has also won a nice race at Ascot in October but hasn’t quite gone on since. He’s running in the Sky Bet Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle – his first run for Venetia over the smaller obstacles.

I think he’s likely to be more suited to fences, and I think this is more of a stepping stone to the Festival. I am not overly confident but there are only four rivals and it’s a nice prize with £30,000 on offer so it’s worth a try.

John Ferguson’s Wolfcatcher was only denied by a short head at Market Rasen last time following an easy win on his debut for us. He seems very straightforward and both John and I really like him.

It looks a tough race as you’d expect given the tradition of the Adonis Hurdle.

Alan King and Phillip Hobbs are represented by two unbeaten horses, while Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls always have to be feared in these type of races. However, we should go better than the odds suggest, which look quite generous at around 16-1.

I haven’t ridden Hannibal The Great, who hasn’t run for well over two years. He had shown promise up to that point but has a mighty absence to overcome. However, Charlie Longsdon’s horses are in really good form at the moment and he is clearly unexposed with real potential. He looks very interesting in the Watch Racing UK On 3 Devices Handicap Hurdle.

I can’t tell you too much about The Blue Bomber, who was third in a good Cheltenham bumper last time. That form may be good enough for this bumper.

Tomorrow I only have ride and I am very hopeful it will be a winning one. Crank Em Up runs in the bumper at Fontwell. I rode him to come second on his debut behind Chalonnial, who looks a very decent horse for Paul Nicholls.

I do really like him and think he has a real future.
