JOYS OF SPRING can finally get a win on the board in the Pegasus Pumps Ltd Fillies’ Handicap at Newbury.

A half-sister to Group Three winner Albabilia, Joys Of Spring has shown flashes of promise for trainer Luca Cumani in four starts to date, with her greatest strides made in two starts this term.

The Invincible Spirit filly chased home Abseil at Yarmouth back in April with that one going on to land a competitive event at Epsom and finishing a fair eighth in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot.

Joys Of Spring was duly sent off favourite on her next start and it was disappointing that she was turned over by a 20-1 outsider, albeit by just a short head.

The winner has done little to boost the form since but off a mark of 78 here, she has been given a reasonable chance on her first foray into handicap company.

The owners behind Star Of Spring lost their Classic hope Chriselliam during the winter but this filly can brighten their mood in the Pumpmatic Pump Stations By Pump Technology Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

A 100,000 guineas recruit last autumn, she has some big sales race entries later in the season and hails from a fair family.

Glebe Spirit has drawn a blank in seven outings so far but his time can come in the Jung Pumpen & Pump Technology Handicap.

He made little impact in maiden company as a juvenile but has looked more at home in handicap company this term, although his rating has fallen a touch from a starting point of 69.

Richard Hannon’s charge posted his best effort yet when eased to a perch of 66, finishing a half-length second at Windsor last week.

Even though he was overlooked by Richard Hughes on that occasion, Glebe Spirit kept on well enough and another 1lb ease in the weights can only help his cause.

Tafawuk is the choice in the Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Handicap at Beverley.

The five-year-old has gone well over a year without a win now but that is something of a misleading statistic as he actually spent a total of 336 days on the sidelines until returning this May.

He clearly improved for that slightly lacklustre sixth as he claimed second next time out before a step up in trip to a mile and a half at Goodwood seemingly failed to suit.

Roger Varian drops him back to just shy of 10 furlongs on the Westwood and that move can pay dividends.

Valantino Oyster can follow up a recent Carlisle win with victory in the Racing UK Android App racinguk.com/Mobile Handicap.

The event he won at the Cumbrian circuit was nothing special but the manner of his victory suggested that he would be a likely type to follow up, Hamble has made a good start for new handler Giles Bravery and can keep up the good work in the pipecenter.co.uk Handicap at Brighton.

He is now at his fifth yard but successfully exploited a very reasonable mark when winning at Lingfield earlier this month.

The handicapper has put him up 6lb for his length-and-three-quarter victory but now he has a confidence-booster under his belt, Hamble could go on again.

The Rattler Obrien has been in good heart of late and is the pick in the Gloria Hera Edwards Celebrating Permanent Residence Handicap Chase at Newton Abbot.
