LEEDS (4-2-3-1):
PEACOCK-FARRELL 8; Dallas 7, Jansson 6, O’Connor 6, Berardi 3; Phillips 4 (Roofe 65, 6), Vieira 5; Alioski 7, Hernandez 7, Saiz 7 (Anita 90); Lasogga 4 (Ekuban 78).
Subs (not used): Lonergan (gk), Nicell, Pearce, Grot.
SUNDERLAND (4-1-4-1):
8 Camp: The best performance produced by a Sunderland keeper for a while – made an excellent late save to deny Saiz
6 Love: Set up McNair’s goal with an excellent chipped pass, but stood off Hernandez as he claimed Leeds’ equaliser
7 Kone: Looks much more comfortable back in a flat back four, and justified his return to the starting line-up after injury
6 O’Shea: His lack of pace remains an issue, but he fared reasonably well against the equally immobile Lassoga
6 Wilson: Found himself a left-back in the absence of Oviedo and while he had to cut inside onto his right foot, he defended well
6 Cattermole: As ever, his commitment couldn’t be questioned, and while he gave the ball away on occasion, he never stopped trying
8 GOOCH: Produced an impressive display down the right-hand side, with his drive and energy aiding Sunderland’s attacking threat
8 McNair: Took his goal superbly as he rifled home from inside the area – it is a huge shame he has missed so much of the season
6 Honeyman: Beavered away busily at the heart of midfield and made some useful breaks into the final third
6 McGeady: Came close with a first-half header and delivered some useful set-pieces into the Leeds penalty area
7 Fletcher: Hit the bar with an excellent first-half header and came close again in the second half – has been much improved in recent weeks
Subs:
Ejaria (for Honeyman, 83)
McManaman (for McGeady, 88)
LuaLua (for Cattermole, 90)
(not used): Steele (gk), Clarke-Salter, Matthews, Asoro.
Man Of The Match: LYNDEN GOOCH – Sunderland’s American midfielder provided the kind of energetic attacking threat that has been absent on far too many occasions this season.
