Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley wants the Brewery Field fans to make plenty of “positive noise” in their home game against Curzon Ashton today.

Moors go into the game in third place in the league, five points behind Salford and eight behind Harrogate Town at the top of the table, but Ainsley points out that his team needs plenty of vocal support to help keep them in the top three.

“There are plenty of very difficult games in this league. Even though Curzon are in the bottom half of the table, they have had some very good results this season, and only last week they drew at Brackley,” he said.

“They will probably be difficult to break down, and it’s at that point when we need more vocal support from our fans. They have been great this season and for many seasons before this, but sometimes we need a little bit of extra help to win matches.

“We need as much positive noise as possible when the players are having trouble getting on top of teams, and that little bit of extra encouragement for the players can make a huge amount of difference.

“The support last week at Southport was fantastic, and all the lads said afterwards how vocal the supporters were and how much they appreciated them and responded to them. We’re hoping for a repeat of that today.”

Moors beat Southport thanks to a last minute goal that put them third, but as Ainsley pointed out; “We need to keep these results going. We might be third now, but it’s so tight, that a couple of defeats could see us slip to halfway.”

Curzon are currently 15th in the table, and have yet to win away from home this season.

Midfielder Rob Ramshaw is unavailable today, so his place could go to either Brad Fewster or Jamie Chandler, while former Curzon winger Ryan Hall will have a fitness test.
