SPENNYMOOR manager Jason Ainsley believes that his players will raise their game for the visit of York City to the Brewery Field in the Vanarama National League North tonight.

Moors have drawn their last three league games, but that hasn’t affected their current position of fifth in the table too much, although mistakes have probably cost them at least two positions.

“I’m pretty sure that the lads will be up for the game tonight,” he said.

“They always seem to raise themselves for the matches against the big teams in the division, such as Darlington, Stockport and Salford, and there’s no reason to think that they won’t be tonight – after all, York are the biggest club in the league. It’s only two years since that they were in the Football League, and we were playing in the EvoStik First Division North.

“It will be another great night at the Brewery Field.”

York were relegated from the National League last season, but won the FA trophy at Wembley as a consolation. They are currently in ninth place in the table after losing at Chorley at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Ainsley said that he was delighted with the debut of former Boro striker Brad Fewster at the weekend.

Fewster came on as a sub against Gainsborough last Saturday, and Ainsley said; “Brad is three weeks behind everybody in terms of preparation, and hasn’t played many games. Despite that, I thought he was a real threat, and brought other players into the game well. He’ll provide competition for places in the forward line.”

Midfielder Ryan Hall will still be missing tonight because of injury.
