Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley says that Moors have no fear as they prepare for their big home game against Salford City today.

Moors come into the game full of confidence after a superb 3-0 away win at Boston United in midweek, that has put them into fourth place in the table, with four wins from five games so far.

Moors have successfully overcome some big challenges so far, but this will be another very tough test against the Class of 92, who are one place below them in the table on goal difference, having won their last four matches.

“Salford are a full time club, and after losing their first game of the season to Darlington, they’ve been flying,” Ainsley said.

“But we go into the game with no fear. We’re not expected to get anything out of the game, so there’s no pressure on us. In many ways, it’s like the Stockport home game on the first day of the season.

“We’ve only come up short once this season, and that was for 30 minutes against Brackley last Saturday. In every other game, we’ve been very competitive as our results have shown.”

Moors’ latest victory was in their re-arranged game at Boston in midweek. “The games certainly don’t come any easier, but we’ll be going into the weekend in a good frame of mind after our win at Boston the other night. This is a really tough weekend with the Darlington game on Monday, and I’ve told the players that we’ll be utilising the squad over the two matches.

“They know that they have to continue to work very hard in every game. This league is certainly more demanding than the EvoStik League was, but it’s what we expected.

“Considering that Boston had won their previous two home games and are a strong side, it was a very good win by us. I thought we did very well defensively after losing 2-0 at Brackley the previous Saturday.

“People questioned whether we had the backbone to win at Boston after losing the previous game, but it was a very positive performance. Our start to the season is beyond expectations.

“The points were a reward for a hard slog, some of the lads from Tyneside didn’t get home until 2.20 in the morning.”

Defender James Curtis is missing because of suspension, but otherwise Ainsley will have a full squad to choose from.
