Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley has warned his players that their futures are at stake as they try to put their play off challenge back on track at Halesowen on Saturday.

Moors dropped four places to ninth in midweek after they were beaten by a last minute goal at Whitby, and Ainsley is demanding three points today.

“The Whitby game summed up our season,” said Ainsley. “We hit a real high the week before against Blyth, but we just didn’t build on that against Whitby. We had five chances to win the game, and gave away two stupid goals at the other end.

“We just don’t seem to be learning from our mistakes, and so it’s got the point in which the players are playing for their futures at this club.

“The mistakes they are making are costing us points. I’ve been asking for consistency, but the only thing we’re consistent at, is by being average.

“There are big question marks now over certain players until the end of the season, and the lads who have been patiently sitting on the bench will now come into contention. Collectively as a group we need to be doing better – and that includes me, Tommy and the rest of the coaching staff -- because this league is very tight as we’ve seen this week.

“We were fourth after the Blyth game, but a postponed game and the Whitby defeat have seen us fall to ninth. We need to put a run of wins together.”

Ainsley has no injury problems, but he is almost certain to make changes. He signed teenage defender Callum Elliott yesterday on a work experience contract from Huddersfield.

Elsewhere in the premier division, leaders Blyth have a big promotion game at Buxton, who have just re-signed striker Liam Hardy from Darlington.

Whitby, who are in sixth place following their win over Spennymoor in midweek, are at home to Rushall Olympic.
