Whitby Town 2 Spennymoor Town 1.

Spennymoor suffered a blow to their play off hopes when they were beaten by a stoppage time goal at Whitby last night.

After equalising with just over 15 minutes left, Moors looked the more likely to win, but Whitby recovered and revived their own play off hopes.

Moors started well, and former Whitby midfielder Shane Henry sent Nathan Fisher away, but the striker fired into the side netting.

But Whitby responded, and nearly took the lead with an effort by Dale Hopson that Dan Lowson saved, but again Fisher got free at the other end from a Rob Ramshaw pass, and Whitby keeper Shane Bland saved.

Moors brought on Tom White for Andy Johnson at half time, and they nearly took the lead again when Glen Taylor made a good run into the box but fired over the bar.

Whitby themselves had a good chance again when Tymon broke clear, but he put the ball wide, then David Carson was just off target. However, they took the lead on 61 minutes when Lowson was adjudged to have brought down Tymon in the area, and Dale Hopson scored from the spot.

Moors levelled on 74 minutes when Kallum Griffiths curled a free kick over from the right for James Curtis to head powerfully past Bland, and Fisher nearly won it, but Bland pulled off an excellent save from his shot on the turn. Rob Ramshaw wasted another opportunity, before Whitby won with almost the last kick of the game when there was confusion in the Moors defence, and all former Spennymoor player Mikey Roberts had to do was to simply tap the ball in from a couple of yards.

Lowson, Griffiths, Curtis, Tait, Mason, Ramshaw, Chandler, Henry, Johnson (sub White 46), Taylor (sub Armstrong 70), Fisher (sub Dowson 80).
