Spennymoor are looking for their fifth away win of the season in the EvoStik League at Stafford on Saturday as they continue their play off push.

Moors have lost just four times on the road in the league this season, but only one club has drawn more away games than them, so manager Jason Ainsley knows that only away wins will do now as the pressure to get into the play offs intensifies. Moors are currently in ninth place, but just two points below the play off places.

“We must starting winning our away games, there have been times this season when we’ve failed to capitalise on winning positions and finished up drawing,” he said.

“We had a good win the other night against Marine, and we showed plenty of character to keep plugging away to get the points.

“We weren’t at our best, and maybe we’ve played better this season and lost, but we’re at the stage of the season now in which victories matter more than performances. Stafford are a big physical side who will provide us with a different type of challenge, and we have to be ready for that.”

Ainsley was impressed by recent loan signing Tom White, who had a hand in both goals against Marine on Tuesday night.

“I thought he was excellent the other night. He got around the pitch well, and produced some good passes to help set up the two goals.”

Defender Chris Mason will have a fitness test on a knee injury, while left back Ian Watson is missing with a virus.
