North Shields kept their grip on the FA Vase when they beat Ashington in their local derby by 3-0.

Shields took an early lead when Ben Richardson was put through and he lifted the ball over the keeper, and they went further ahead on 49 minutes through John Parker with a header from a corner.

They made sure of victory late in the game when sub James Luccock ran through and slotted the ball home.

Guisborough were surprisingly beaten 2-1 at home by Team Northumbria.

Team north took the lead on 19 minutes when Kevin Carr drove home through a crowd of players, but Guisborough equalised on 26 minutes when Danny Earl helped on a long ball from Danny McWilliams for Steve Snaith to turn quickly and fire past the keeper.

The scores stayed level until the second period of extra time, when Louis Storey stabbed in the winner with nine minutes remaining.

In the EBAC Northern League, Bishop Auckland drew 2-2 with West Allotment at Heritage Park.

Allotment took the lead after 4 minutes with a header by Ian Dunn, but Bishops levelled two minutes later when Andy Johnson was tripped in the area, and he scored from the spot.

Bishops went ahead on 9 minutes when Ian Ward forced the ball home from a Scott McCarthy pull back, but Allotment levelled five minutes before half time when Sam Walton sidestepped a defender and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.

The goals dried up in the second half, but Bishops had more chances and the closest they came to scoring was from a quick breakaway, when Johnson fired into the side netting.

In the league cup, Newton Aycliffe lost 4-2 at Penrith.

Aycliffe took the lead with a 30 yard free kick by Stuart Banks, but Penrith levelled through Sam Bell.

Banks restored Aycliffe’s lead with a diving header , but that was cancelled out by a strike from Adam Main.

Aycliffe had defender Dan Mitton red carded for a foul, and Penrith took advantage when Jamie Hope headed them in front, and late on Robbie Hebson scored the fourth.

In the Ernest Armstrong Cup, Billingham Synthonia just got the better of Stokesley by 5-4.

Synners took an early two goal lead through Sam Garvie and Sonny Andrews, but Stokesley, without a league win this season, hit back with three goals in four minutes before half time through Dan Jones, Chris Lynas and Connor Campbell.

Garvie levelled on the hour for Synners, then Josh Rowbotham headed them in front. Andrews made it 5-3 on 76 minutes Brandon beat Tow Law 5-3.

Brandon took the lead with a free kick by Dean Thexton, but Lawyers levelled just after half time through Kai Hewitson Kieron Duffy-Weekes made it 2-1 with a 25 yarder, but Lawyers equalised again through Hewitson, and then took the lead with a goal by Craig Dixon.

But Brandon recovered, and won the game with goals by Vinny Gash, Luke Thompson and Kyle Wren.

Northallerton beat Darlington RA 4-3 on penalties, even though they played for over an hour with just ten men.

Northallerton took the lead in the first minute through Simon Pinkney, but then they had Colin Anderson dismissed.

Jim Wilson levelled in the second half for RA from a free kick.

Heaton Stannington sprung a surprise in the Northumberland Senior Cup by beating Bedlington 3-0, all their goals coming in the first half through Adam Rowntree, Matthew Hayton and Lewis Burns.
