Shildon had to be satisfied with a point from their trip to Morpeth tonight.

Shildon went close with a Carl Jones header early on, and then Lee Scroggins dribbled through the Morpeth defence and fired just wide, while at the other end Lewis Graham pulled off a couple of good saves.

The Railwaymen were on top in the second half, and Paul Connor put a good chance wide, and Billy Greulich-Smith put a better one over the top.

Graham made two more saves late in the game, and in the last few seconds, Mark Doninger agonisingly missed from a few yards for Shildon.

Shildon remain third, seven points behind leaders Guisborough with three games in hand.

North Shields are still in the title hunt, and they beat Bedlington 4-0 to go level on points with Shildon. Both clubs have four games left.

Gareth Bainbridge scored twice in the first half hour to give him 26 league goals for the season, with Dean Holmes scoring the third.

Bainbridge completed his fifth hat trick of the season in the second half, and he also reached the 100 goal landmark for the club in less than two seasons.

Relegated pair Crook Town and Celtic Nation fought out a goalless draw, which was Crook’s first clean sheet of the season.
