Shildon are up to third in the ENL Division One after they beat West Allotment 2-0 at Dean Street tonight.

Shildon won the game inside the first 12 minutes. Centre half John Brackstone headed in a corner, then Paul Connor ran through on to a Billy Greulich-Smith pass and cleverly wrongfooted a defender and the keeper before knocking the ball in.

Shildon had the chances to increase the lead, but Allotment also missed an opportunity to pull a goal back when Liam Anderson broke through, but he fired straight at Kyle Hayes.

Marc Doninger missed an easy chance for a third Shildon goal near the end after Allotment’s Marc Dummett was red carded for a foul on Sam Hodgson.

Guisborough are now four points clear at the top of the table after they beat Crook Town 2-0 at the King George. Danny Earl put them in the lead after 26 minutes, and James Risborough got the second midway through the second half.

Sunderland RCA are now out of the bottom three after they drew 1-1 at Penrith.

The RCA took the lead with a free kick into the top corner by James Armstrong, but Martyn Coleman equalised following a solo run.

In the second division, league leaders Seaham Red Star were hoping to win promotion at Willington, but they lost 2-0. Marc Bell put Willington into the lead, then Seaham had defender Chris Scott red carded for a foul. Jason White scored the second for Willington in the second half.

Fourth placed Norton missed a chance to go second when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Hebburn, Channon North scoring the goal in the second half. Hebburn are now three points off the top three with games in hand.

Bottom club Brandon lost 2-1 at home to Northallerton after taking the lead through tom Callaghan’s penalty. But Northallerton hit back with goals by Aaron Ramsbottom and Jamie Tunstall.
