League Cup holders Marske United were knocked out of this year’s competition when they were beaten 4-1 at Newton Aycliffe tonight.
Aycliffe took an early lead when Zak Boagey beat two defenders and fired past Marske keeper Robbie Deane, and after Marske had gone close a couple of times, they levelled just on half time when Reece Kelly was challenged, and the ball ran for Austin Johnston to slot home.
Aycliffe regained the lead on 69 minutes when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Liam O’Sullivan, and Boagey scored his second of the game from the spot. Aycliffe made sure a few minutes from the end when Liam Henderson broke away and scored twice in quick succession.
All the other scheduled games tonight were postponed.
