West Auckland have appointed Andy Toman as their interim manager ahead of their trip to Penrith today.

Counting caretaker managers, former Darlington and Hartlepool midfielder Toman will be the club’s fourth of the season following Anth Smith’s shock decision to quit in midweek.

General manager Stuart Alderson said; “Andy is an FA coach, he's got experience of management in the league, and he will take the job until we get it sorted. We’ve had a few enquiries about the job, but while Andy is in charge, then we have some breathing space.”

West are currently eight points clear of North Shields, who have three games in hand.

Penrith had a good result in midweek, ending the unbeaten away league record of Marske United.

Marske United, who are fourth, are at home to Whitley Bay and manager Carl Jarrett could make changes after their defeat at Penrith.

Steve Foster, who was caretaker manager of Whitley Bay last weekend, has left the club, so David Styles is in charge of today’s game. Striker Paul Robinson and midfielder Craig MacFarlane are both injured, but defender Callum Anderson returns to the team.

Second in the table North Shields are at Ashington, and they will be missing their top scorer, Gareth Bainbridge, because of injury, while Dean Holmes, John Parker and Joe Elliott will all have fitness tests.

Ashington will be without defender Richard Flynn, and strikers Tony Stephenson and Glen Taylor.

Shields drew with Guisborough in midweek, which meant that they have gone through the whole of 2014 unbeaten at home.

Third placed Jarrow Roofing go to Morpeth, and they will be missing Alan Greenan, while midfielder Wayne Phillips is doubtful. Defenders Corey Barnes and Alex White both return. Morpeth manager Nick Gray will choose from a full squad, except for injured striker Michael Fenwick.

Shildon are hoping to bounce back from their midweek Vase defeat at home to Guisborough, when manager Gary Forrest admitted that his side weren’t at their best. He expects to choose from a full strength squad.

Guisborough, who are in sixth place, are without striker Nathan Mulligan, striker Damien Stevens and midfielder James Risborough, but midfielder Chay Liddle is unavailable.

They have also made midfielder Tommy Marron available for transfer.

Bishop Auckland are hoping to end their losing run when they go to second bottom Billingham Synthonia, but they are missing Stuart Thompson and Adam Sakr, while Jordan Lavery and Lewis Brown both have fitness tests. Ben Riding and Kieran Day both return.

Newton Aycliffe, who are fourth bottom, are at home to Newcastle Benfield, and they will give debuts to recent signings Andrew Green and Dennis Knight, but defender Mark Stephenson is missing because of suspension. Benfield have lost midfielder Dillon Morse to Gateshead, while defender Chris Carr returns, while new signing Sean Utterson is added to the squad.

Sunderland RCA are hoping to restart their revival when they travel to Celtic Nation, and they include Joe Hughes, Steve Bogie and Danny Wray in their squad, while manager Marty Swales hopes to complete the transfer of Kieran Megran from Bishop Auckland in time for the game. Michael Charlton, Clayton Davies and Jack Stanger will have fitness tests. The Nation are without Lee Hoolickin and Dean Armstrong because of injury, while several others will have fitness tests.

The game however is in doubt because of a waterlogged pitch.

Bottom club Crook Town are at home to Dunston UTS, and manager Peter Mulcaster could bring in at least one new signing before the game, but David Webster is out because of suspension.. Dunston manager Billy Irwin will choose from a full squad.

West Allotment, who are sixth bottom, are at home to Consett. Michael Hall, Chris Douglas, and Ian Dunn are all injured, while Paul Chapman is suspended. However, Marc Dummett should return. Consett include their former keeper Barry Poskett, who they signed from Ryhope CW in midweek, his fourth transfer of the season. First choice Chris Elliott is suspended, while defenders Ryan Bell and David Brown are both missing.

In the second division, Leon Ryan who quit as Whitley Bay manager last weekend, has joined Ryhope CW as player-coach, and he could play in their away game at Northallerton. Ryan is a close friend of Ryhope manager Gary Pearson.

Northallerton manager Steve Skinner will be without skipper Dale Elgie who is suspended, otherwise he will choose from a squad of 15 players The match of the day is at third placed Team Northumbria, who face leaders Seaham at the campus. Seaham are without injured striker Sonny Andrews, while full back Darren Reay is suspended.

Second placed Norton have a local derby at home to Thornaby, and they will be missing their top scorer Rocky Andrews because of suspension, while another striker Nicky martin is doubtful because of injury. Midfielder Michael Joseph returns to the squad.

Fourth placed Washington are at Heaton Stannington, a place and eight points below them, and manager Stephen Hutchinson chooses from a full squad as they try to extend their unbeaten run to five matches. Gary McGarrigal and Ally Stoddart are both unavailable for Heaton, while Gary Dixon is injured.

Darlington RA are hanging onto the shirt tails of the leaders, and they’re at home to Whickham. Keeper Phil Pentony and defender Jim Wilson are both suspended, while Jordan Hanratty is out because of a knee ligament injury.

Hebburn who are in eighth place are at home to Alnwick, and they will be without the division’s top scorer, Channon North, because of suspension. Defenders Ross Toward and Kris summers both return, but Jak Quantrill is working.

In the battle to avoid the drop, third bottom Tow Law need to beat South Shields at Ironworks Road, and they include four new signings, the most recent being Phil Bowes. However, Paul Greenwell and John Hewitson are both suspended.

This will be the first game in charge for joint managers Steve Murray and Kevin Dixon.

Bottom of the table Brandon have a big game at home to fourth bottom Stokesley, and manager Paul Tunstall hopes to choose from a full squad.

Second bottom Esh Winning, who haven’t won since the middle of September, are at home to Ryton, and manager Chris Blakelock hopes to have a full squad to choose from.

Willington, who lost in midweek to Stokesley, face Birtley at Hall Lane.

Birtley will be without Lee Best, Scott Watson and Mark Fish, but Jamie Henderson will make his debut after signing from Tow Law.

Billingham Town are without Michael Dalton for their home game with Chester-le-Street, while Stephen Hodgson and Ian Bishop are both doubtful.

Chester welcome back Craig Marron, Kevin Dixon, Danny Smart and Steven Telford, but Aaron Reynolds and Ben Johnson are both missing.

In the EvoStik Premier Division, Blyth are at Grantham and Whitby are at home to Stourbridge.
