Esh Winning and Seaham shared a record breaking day when Seaham won 12-1 at Waterhouses in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.

Esh suffered possibly the quickest sending off in Vase history, Seaham recorded the biggest score in the competition for three years, and Seaham striker Sonny Andrews helped himself to the highest individual score this season.

Just 13 seconds into the game Esh keeper Dean Caris was red carded for pulling down Seaham forward Sonny Andrews after Seaham kicked off, and from an Esh point of view it went from bad to worse after that.

Andrews scored a total of eight in the game which could be an individual Vase record for this season and possibly in the competition’s history, while Dan Palmer and Liam McBryde both got two apiece. Tom Morgan scored a consolation for Esh.

Esh manager Chris Blakelock said; “We had our keeper sent off, a new signing went off injured after five minutes, and the rest was history. It was appalling football.”

Seaham boss Mark Collingwood said; “Sonny could have had got into double figures himself, he had that many chances.”

Seaham's win is the biggest since Dunston hammered Blackwell 12-1 three seasons ago.

Consett had the best win by a Northern League club on the road, by 5-0 at Hall Road Rangers, after going 4-0 up in the first 21 minutes.

Michael Mackay fired Consett into the lead after 8 minutes, and Calvin smith lobbed the keeper from 30 yards for the second. Mackay finished off a good move for 3-0, and completed his hat trick from a Josh Gray through ball. Steve Bowey finished off a good move for the fifth in the second half.

Consett manager Kenny Lindoe said; “We wrapped it up with a 4-0 lead in the fist 20 minutes and we took our foot off the pedal from then on, but still could have run up double figures.”

Ryhope CW had a good home win over Barnoldswick by 5-2. They couldn’t have got off to a better start with Barnoldswick defender John Ridehalgh putting through his own goal twice in the first twenty minutes, with Nathan O’Neill scoring in between. Craig Hughes scored a fourth before half time, and after the break Jack Pounder made it 5-0.

Ryhope CW manager Gary Pearson said; “It was a comfortable victory but I was slightly disappointed to conceded two goals and not scare a few more. Main thing is that we are in the hat hoping for a nice away bust trip in the next round.”

Four times winners Whitley Bay started their campaign by beating South Shields 4-3 at Hillheads. The visitors’ striker Paul Kane scored a hat trick and still finished on the losing side. Robbie Bird gave Whitley a 6th minute lead, but Kane quickly equalised. But Bird replied with a second, then Paul Chow, a regular scorer for Whitley in the Vase over the years, headed a third before half time. Kane pulled a goal back from the spot, but another Vase veteran, Paul Robinson, made it 4-2 to Whitley. Kane completed his hat trick midway through the second half, but he couldn’t find another.

Whitley Bay manager Leon Ryan said; “The only real positive is that we are in the draw. We dominated the game and should have been out of sight, but we let them back in it with three schoolboy goals. Full credit to Shields, they were in the game for the full 90 minutes.”

Billingham Synthonia and Celtic Nation must replay again on Tuesday night after they drew 2-2 at Central Avenue. Dean Douglas put the Nation ahead after 5 minutes, but Nathan Porritt levelled from the penalty spot for Synners after Kris Hughes was fouled.

Recent signing Adam McMath restored the Nation’s lead, but Scott Matthewman set up a replay with a second equaliser for Synners.

Billingham Synthonia manager Lee Tucker said; “A draw was probably the right result. We had chances to win it but suffered injuries that impacted on the momentum of the game as Jameson and Furness went off when we were on top which was unfortunate.”

Marske United needed extra time to beat battling second division Chester-le-Street 2-1.

Chester matched Marske all the way until Marske took the lead just on half time when Jamie Owens deflected a shot from Josh MacDonald past the Chester keeper. Chester kept going, and after having a Jake Stafford penalty saved, levelled on 79 minutes through an effort by Scott Heslop. But Marske recovered and won with a Craig Gott penalty awarded for a foul on MacDonald in the second period of extra time.

Chester-le-Street manager Colin Wake said; “I’m really proud of my players , to say we were robbed is an understatement. We more than matched Marske and we stopped them playing and looked a threat every time we went forward. We missed a penalty in the second half and they were awarded a dubious one in the second period of extra time to win the game.”

Marske manager Carl Jarrett said; “As a club, we set standards and at the minute we don’t look like we are anywhere near them. Fair play to Chester, they shoukd have got a replay.”

Durham City, whose manager Ian Chandler has held the Vase four times, surprisingly lost 1-0 at Holker Old Boys, who scored their winner with just a minute left of extra time, courtesy of a mistake by Durham keeper Jordan Harkess.

Durham City manager Ian Chandler said; “It was an horrific performance against a very poor team. A goalkeeping blunder in the 119th minute cost us dearly.”

Sunderland RCA beat Crook 1-0 in their all Northern League clash. Crook had Kieran Weekes dismissed for violent conduct after 20 minutes, and they held on until RCA scored the winner through Andrew Brown after Joe Hughes was fouled.

Sunderland RCA manager Martin Swales said; “I thought we bombarded Crook but couldn’t find the killer touch.”

North Shields had to withstand a late fightback by Stokesley before they won 4-2 at Broughton Road. Denver Morris set up Greg Bainbridge to put Shields into the lead, then he quickly fired the second. He completed his hat trick soon after half time, but then Stokesley pulled two goals back through Dave Edwards. But Bainbridge fired the fourth to kill off Stokesley’s come back.

Stokesley manager Nicky Ward said; “It was a great team effort. I was delighted with the performance , we gave Shields a run for their money. Our players deserve a lot of credit especially Dave Edwards in midfield, he was all over the place.”

Bedlington beat Liversedge 4-0 at Welfare Park with goals by Lee Scott (2), Jordan Nellis and Dylan Williamson . Scott has scored in each of Bedlington’s last five matches.

Bedlington manager Ian Skinner said; “It was a good first half performance and we went in 3-0 at half time. Second half we scored early to go 4-0 and then took our foot off the pedal, We’re pleased to be in the hat on Monday.”

Alnwick pulled off a good result at home to Pickering, one level above them, by 5-3. Adam Shanks scored a hat trick for Alnwick to put them 3-0 up, and after Pickering pulled a goal back, Brad McLelland added a fourth. Pickering pulled two more back, but Shanks scored his personal fourth.

Billingham Town lost 3-1 at home to Yorkshire Amateurs, who scored all their goals in the second half before Joel Callender pulled a goal back.

West Allotment and Nelson drew 1-1 , and replay on Tuesday night. Sean Reid scored Allotment’s goal with a header eight minutes from the end of normal time.

West Allotment manager Paul Stoneman said; “We were excellent in the first half , then never came out. A draw was a fair result although we had the ball a yeard over the line, but nothing given.”

Washington led Darwen 2-0 and 3-2 in the game, but lost 4-3. Chris Winn, Mark Davison and Joe Walton scored the goals.

Heaton Stannington lost 4-0 at Colne, after being goalless at half time. They had Mike Creswick and Lee Johnson dismissed in the second half.

Heaton assistant manager Geoff Walker said; “We should have been 2-0 up at half time kicking down the slope but for some great saves from their keeper. Five minutes in the second half we had a player sent off, and up the slope was nigh on impossible. We kept battling but get caught on the counter attack and then had another player sent off. It was never a 4-0 game.”
