Marske United’s unbeaten record was ended when they lost 2-0 to Jarrow Roofing on Saturday.

Marske had gone unbeaten in their previous eight league matches, but they were beaten by two first half goals.

Manager Carl Jarrett said; "Our unbeaten run was ended by two defensive errors. We were chasing the game for 60 minutes. Their keeper was brilliant but I’m still not happy with how we played.”

Roofing took the lead after 7 minutes when Alex White crossed for Dan Kirkup to head home, then a few minutes later Bruno Pilatos split the Marske defence with a great ball for John Campbell to run through and beat Robbie Deane.

Marske nearly levelled when Craig Gott rounded the keeper but Paul Gardiner cleared off the line. Roofing keeper Andy Hunter pulled off good saves in the second half from Josh McDonald and Jamie Owens.

Jarrow Roofing manager Richie McLoughlin said; “It was a great result. What a team performance, we fully deserved it.”

West Auckland are now unbeaten in six league games after they came from behind to win 2-1 at Ashington.

The home side took the lead with a strike by Dean Critchlow on 27 minutes, but West levelled just on half time when Jake Fowler finished well from an Alex Francis through ball. West slowly got on top in the second half, and Robbie Briggs fired the winner from a Steve Richardson corner.

West striker Stuart Banks has left the club.

Ashington assistant manager Perry Briggs said; “In the first half I thought we matched West in every department, but West controlled the game in the second half. I’ve got no complaints about the result.”

West Auckland manager Anth Smith said; “A sloppy bit of defending cost us the goal, but I was pleased with our offensive play. I was pleased with our second half performance. We keep giving stupid goals away.”

Durham City striker Ryan Noble, who was signed on Friday from Darlington, scored with his first touch of the ball in the 4-0 home win over Celtic Nation.

After failing to find the target for Darlington, he scored in the opening minute from a through ball by Nick Allen. Another former Darlington player, Jonny Davis, scored the second from a free kick.

City hit the bar twice before Callum Hope scored a third from close range then Noble grabbed his fourth to wrap up the points. City had defender Chris Wallace red carded for use of the elbow.

Durham manager Ian Chandler said; “I’m delighted with the display and result. It was a great performance from new signing Ryan Noble who scored with his first touch for Durham. Ryan and Callum Patton worked very well together.”

Crook Town had a bad day, losing 4-1 at Penrith, all the goals coming in the first half. Aaron Kelly scored a 25 yarder after just 2 minutes, then he quickly scored a second from a rebound off the bar. Chris Hardy pulled a goal back by the 10th minute, but Ryan Hall made it 3-1 on the half hour. Grant Davidson made it 4-1 before half time.

Crook manager Nick Harrison said; “It was a poor day at the office, compounded by a poor start.”

Bishop Auckland had a good 2-0 away win at Guisborough, and end the home side’s three game winning run.

Bishops took the lead after 3 minutes when Sean Tarling had a shot charged down, but Kyle Davis, who is back into the side after his cricket commitments, scored from the rebound.

In the second half, Glen Lane hit the crossbar, but seven minutes from time he was involved in the second goal, when he set up Jonny Butler to fire home.

Bishop Auckland manager David Bayles said; “We’re very happy to get the three points against a very good team. The players worked tirelessly and deserved their rewards.”

Guisborough assistant manager Steve Dowling said; “Bishops came wit ha game plan and it worked for them. They worked hard and stopped us from playing. At 1-0 we were always in the game but their second goal killed us.”

Newton Aycliffe, who had new signings Chris Archer and Chris Dickinson in their side, lost 1-0 at home to Whitley Bay.

Paul Chow scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half when he burst clear and fired past Aycliffe keeper Will Jones for his 11th league goal of the season .Aycliffe had defender Scott Oldfield red carded late in the game.

Bedlington are still four points clear at the top after beating Billingham Synthonia 5-0. Lee Scott gave the Terriers the lead after 7 minutes with a header, then Dylan Williamson made it 2-0 from a rebound. He quickly made it 3-0 with another strike.

Scott Blandford scored from a corner for the fourth, before Paul Watson scored with a deflected shot.

Bedlington manager Ian Skinner said; “We played some good stuff in spells today and the pace, power and movement of our forward players made it difficult for Billingham. Another good win which keeps our good run going.”

Billingham Synthonia manager Lee Tucker said; “Incredibly we had 14 players missing so it was difficult for us. Unfortunately e couldn’t cause the upset we hoped for. The lads kept going though.”

North Shields are now up to fourth after they beat Consett 3-0. Recent signing Denver Morris gave Shields the lead with a header, then he turned provider by crossing for Gareth Bainbridge to score. Bainbridge went close again before he ran through and netted the third.

Consett manager Kenny Lindoe said; “the best team won. We had greater possession throughout but they defended well and constantly caused us problems on the break.”

West Allotment came back from 3-0 down with 25 minutes left and drew 3-3 at Morpeth. The home side looked to be comfortable when they led 3-0 with goals by Michael Chilton (2) and Sean Taylor, but Allotment came roaring back and levelled with goals by Tony Lancaster, Shaun Reid (penalty) and David Dormand, the equaliser coming in stoppage time.

Morpeth manager Nick Gray said; “The players know how I felt and it will remain private. Well done to West Allotment.”

West Allotment manager Paul Stoneman said; “All eleven were superb from start to finish. They had three chances and scored three goals. We had numerous chances and could have been out of sight. To come back from 3-0 down in the last 25 showed great character, that’s the team I know, and not the one in previous six games.”

Second division leaders Team Northumbria were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home by Tow Law, who produced their best performance of the season so far and in the process record their first away win.

The only goal came on 71 minutes when Anthony Lee tapped in a right wing cross.

Tow Law manager Gary Anderson said; “It was a great result, all the 14 players we used gave 110 per cent throughout. We worked hard out of possession to limit Team north and created some good chances. In all fairness we could have scored one or two more.”

Darlington RA are now unbeaten in nine league games and are fifth after a 2-1 home win over Willington. They took the lead with a header by Jacob Wood from a setpiece, then Sam England beat a defender and beat the keeper at his near post. Willington scored late in the game through Mark Bell.

Darlington RA manager Paul Bowman said; “It was a hard fought game that we deserved to win. We had a game plan and the players were very good in their work and understanding of what we asked. With a number of players missing we had to change our personnel in certain positions but they all did very well. We have a good team spirit and we are enjoying our football while still trying to play the right way.”

Willington manager Rob Lee said; “We gave two goals away in the first half and we scored in the last minute. Great defending by Darlington RA, a draw would have been fair.”

Hebburn hammered Esh Winning 6-0 to stay second.

Esh only had 12 players available, and they finished the game with ten because of injuries. Channon North gave Hebburn the lead on 16 minutes, and Esh held their own until he scored the second, his 16th league goal of the season on 56 minutes. Dan Smith (2), Craig Malley and Andrew McIntosh added further goals.

Hebburn manager Scott Oliver said; “We’ve got to be pleased with 6-0. We missed a lot of chances. I hope Esh Winning pick up, they’re a great club.”

Esh Winning manager Chris Blakelock said; “We didn’t play well at all. We started off far too slow and with only one lad on the bench, due to players letting us down again we were never in it.”

Norton continued their good form by winning 3-1 at Whickham. Karl Charlton and Rocky Andrews put Norton 2-0 up, before both sides had a man sent off in the same incident, Whickham’s Scott Swanson and Norton’s Dale Mulligan. Jack Moulding pulled a goal back for Whickham, but Andrews made sure.

Norton manager Andy Campbell said; “I’m very happy. It was a very good team performance, we looked solid and scored three good goals.”

Seaham Red Star have now scored 26 goals in their last five matches after they easily won 5-1 at Birtley. They scored three goals in five minutes to take firm control of the game. Liam McBryde (2), Sonny Andrews (2) and David Palmer were the scorers.

Birtley manager Tony Boakes said; “Seaham are a really strong side. We switched off for 5 minutes and they went 3-0 up. We created a few good chances which we missed to get us back in the match. The lads were upbeat after the game and hopefully they’ll learn for next time.”

Washington moved up by beating South Shields who were third going into the game.

Washington, who have signed former Darlington full back Joe Kendrick, took the lead through James Fairley on 21 minutes, then Chris Winn scored the second before half time. Stephen Ramsey pulled a goal back, but Fairley made sure of the points late in the game.

Washington manager Steve Hutchinson said; “It was a good performance all round. The new signings brought some experience to the performance. I’m pleased, it was an all round great performance.”

Ryhope CW lost ground in the promotion chase by losing 3-1 at Alnwick for whom Brad McLelland scored a hat trick.

McLelland scored the first two when he latched on to long balls, then Ryhope pulled a goal back through Andy Appleby. But McLelland pounced on a mistake to score his hat trick.

Ryhope keeper Chris Rookes missed the game because of a freak injury incurred while removing a DVD from a DVD player.

Ryhope CW manager Gary Pearson said; “I’m disappointed with the result, but not with the performance as I thought we played some great football and had loads of chances and amazed that at least four didn’t cross the line. A freak injury to our keeper Chris Rookes on Friday didn’t help.”

Heaton Stannington beat Stokesley 2-0. Heaton took the lead thanks to an own goal by Stokesley defender Alex Dougall. Stokesley’s Greg Peel then had a penalty saved, and Heaton made them pay when Andrew Robertson scored the second.

Newcastle United legend Peter Beardsley is taking a strong Newcastle United reserve team to Heaton on Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the club’s new facilities.

Heaton Stannington assistant manager Geoff Walker said; “It wasn’t a great team performance by us to be honest but three points and a clean sheet, a great penalty save by our keeper. Fair play to Stokesley they kept going.”

Chester-le-Street had a good 3-0 home win over Northallerton. Jake Stafford scored a goal in each half to put them 2-0 up, and with 12 minutes left Jordan Fraser scored the third. Northallerton have now dropped to 11th.

Northallerton manager Peter Mulcaster said; “It was a poor performance today, there’ll be changes on Wednesday.”

Chester-le-Street manager Colin Wake said; “It was a real Chester performance today, we were at it from the first minute, and fully deserved the win. Good team performance and at last a happy Saturday night.”

Billingham Town lost 1-0 at home to Ryton and Crawcrook, the goal coming midway through the second half when Romario Kastrati scored from the rebound after a shot by David Backhouse was blocked.

Brandon are still five points adrift of everyone else after they lost 2-0 at Thornaby for whom veteran Jamie Clarke and Danny Lofts scored in the last ten minutes.

Thornaby manager Paul Edwards said; “We got lucky today. A lot of possession with no end product, but maybe just deserved it.”
