Shildon manager Gary Forrest is pleased that there isn’t such a great weight of expectation on them when they go to EvoStik League club Padiham on Saturday.

Shildon are thought by many to be favourites to win the Northern League, and Forrest said; “It's nice to go into a game that people don't assume we will win easily!

“Over the last couple of years I remember whenever Spennymoor dropped points the fans thought the world was coming to an end and every single decision was scrutinised and questioned. I now understand how frustrating and annoying that must have been for manager Jason Ainsley.

“Anyway whatever eleven we put on the pitch will be there to win the game and we are looking forward to it.”

Striker Michael Rae will have a fitness test, while midfielder Lee Scroggins is unavailable.

ENL Second Division club Washington have one of the plum home ties of the round against Lancaster City, who are managed by former Newcastle defender Darren Peacock and helped by former QPR winger Trevor Sinclair. They will be without top scorer Chris Winn who scored four in the last round at Pickering, while winger Joe Walton and defender Greg Swansbury will both have fitness tests.

Seaham Red Star are away to Clitheroe from the Evo-Stik League, and manager Mark Collingwood chooses from a full squad that includes recent signing Liam McBryde from Jarrow Roofing.

Newcastle Benfield are at home to another Evo-Stik League club, Kendal. Striker Steven Baptiste and midfielder Lee Scorgie are both unavailable, while Gary Day and Phil Airey come into contention Kendal lost 7-0 at Darlington on Monday when they had two men sent off in the first 10 minutes, but watching Benfield manager Neil Saxton didn’t learn much from the game.

Marske United go to Armthorpe, who beat their neighbours Guisborough in the last round. Defender Matty Crossen is back with the club after a loan spell at Stokesley, while Connor Smith has returned from his trial at Middlesbrough. Defender Josh Myers is missing because of injury.

West Allotment go down to Yorkshire in order to play Knaresborough from the NCEL, and player-manager Paul Stoneman will have a fitness test while Michael Bell, Dean Lee and Chris Douglass will all be missing because of injury.

Northallerton have a tough away tie at Bridlington from the NCEL, and manager Peter Mulcaster will choose from a full squad. Bridlington beat Whitley Bay in the last round.

In the all ENL ties, Bishop Auckland, who are unbeaten this season, are at home to Jarrow Roofing, and they add striker Danny Brunskill to their squad, but another striker, Kyle Davis, is unavailable because of cricket. Roofing are without striker John Campbell and defender Corey Barnes because of injury.

Dunston UTS, who are at home to Durham, will be at full strength now that full back Stephen Harrison returns. Durham are without midfielder Steven Stewart and defender Chris Wallace, while Jordan Harkess and Stephen Turnbull are both doubtful.

Consett have a local derby against Whickham at Belle View, and they will be missing defenders Michael Pearson and Scott Martindale, but midfielders Ryan Bell and Josh Gray should both return. Whickham, who had a good run last season, are without cuptied striker Scott Swanston, who has just rejoined the club from Crook, while there are fitness doubts over striker John Martin and midfielder David Fitzpatrick.

On Sunday, Ashington are at Albion Sports in Leeds and they will be without midfielder Craig Robson and striker Dean Critchlow.

North Shields, who are flying high in the ENL first division are at Scarborough – who play on Bridlington’s ground – and they have fitness doubts over top scorer Gareth Bainbridge, plus Ryan Carr and John Grey. However, James Luccock, Joe Elliott and Peter Glen-Ravenhill all return to the squad.
