Conrad Hillerby today quit as manager of STL First Division club Norton.

Hillerby has been at the club for four seasons, and says that he 's decided to quit because "I've taken the club as far as I can."

He is one of Norton's most successful managers, guiding them to promotion from the second division into the first, and establishing them as a solid first division club, as well taking them to the quarter finals of the FA Vase and the third qualifying round of the fA Cup -- the furthest the club has ever reached in both competitions.

"I feel that I've reached a plateau with the club, and that it's best that I step down and recharge my batteries.

"A lot has happened in four years, and it's taking a lot of time and effort to stay there. I've asked myself if I can take it forward from here and progress, and I don't think I can. It's been in the back of my mind to resign for a few weeks now."
