It's going to be a nail biting Super Saturday of action on the last full day of the Northern League season -- if the weather allows it.

Three clubs are in a position to win the league, but it's West Auckland who are in pole today. If they win at Ashington, then they will be champions, but if they lose and Spennymoor and Dunston both win their games, then the league might not be decided until the middle of next week, especially if bad weather causes havoc again today.

West are four points clear of Spennymoor, and manager Peter Dixon said: “Even if we don’t win, then we’ll have still had a fantastic season. We’re under no illusions, because Ashington are one of the better sides in the league, and we won’t be underestimating them.”

Dixon is without full back Andrew Green because of suspension, while Matthew Coad is out with an ankle injury, which isn’t as bad as first feared.

Spennymoor can win the league if West lose, and they beat Billingham Synthonia today and Dunston on Monday.

Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley said: "To win the last seven games has given us a great opportunity although we know that Billingham will have a totally different team to the one that played West last week when they lost heavily, so we are under no illusions that our game is going to be easy, although the same can be said of Ashington who in my opinion are as good as any team in the league on their day and especially at home. West seem to be having a lot of big decisions going their way in recent weeks so hopefully that will have ran out by today."

Dunston are at Shildon, who beat them at the UTS stadium in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago, and manager Billy Irwin will have a full squad at his disposal, although he does have more of an eye on Wembley.

Shildon have several players missing, which means that Phil Brumwell and Stu Niven will be named in the squad.

In the other games, Bishop Auckland striker Andy Johnson is almost certain to be the division's top goalscorer by the end of their home game with Guisborough, as he is five clear of Consett's Michael Mackay at the top of the goalscoring charts. Bishops manager Colin Myers chooses from a full squad, except for unavailable defender Phil Shead. Guisborough are missing several players because of injury and suspension.

Consett striker Michael Mackay scored three in midweek against Stokesley, but he will have a tough task in scoring five against Newcastle Benfield at Belle Vue.

Manager Kenny Lindoe is with out striker Lewy Teasdale, defender Carl Piecha and midfielder Craig Robson, but Ryan Bell, Gav Ross and Scott Martindale all should return.

Benfield are without striker Ian Graham, while midfielder Shaun Bell is doubtful.

Norton play their last game of the season at Bedlington, and they are without striker James Magowan, but defender Craig Bishop is suspended, while defender Andy Burton and midfielder Shaun Clarke are both injured.

The last relegation issue will also be settled today. If Penrith avoid a 13 goal defeat at South Shields, then Jarrow Roofing will be relegated. Shields strengthen their squad with the returns of Lee Picton, Jordan Fraser, Davy Colvin and Gilberto Chapim, but Denver Morris and Simon Fitzpatrick both return.
