Battling Stokesley couldn’t break their league duck after 42 league games when they lost 7-2 at home to Consett last night.

The first division’s bottom club have gone through the season without claiming a league win, although they went close on four previous occasions.

Their hopes were briefly raised when former Boro youngster Nathan Porritt put them into an 8th minute lead, but Consett levelled through Michael Mackay, and before half time, Ryan King added two more. Mackay scored his 32nd league goal of the season just after half time from the spot, before former Consett player Adam Emson pulled a goal back. Richie Slaughter and Matthew Slocombe made it 6-2, before Mackay completed his hat trick.

Mackay is now five behind the division’s top scorer, Bishop Auckland’s Andy Johnson. Consett manager Kenny Lindoe said: "It could have been 15 -10 to us. Both teams played some decent attacking play but defensively Alan Hansen would have had a field day."

Esh Winning are up to seventh in the second division with a 3-0 away win at bottom club Easington, with Craig Coates scoring all three to take his tally for the season to 22 in the league.
