Thornaby manager Ray Morton said that Wednesday’s 14 goal thriller against Guisborough was like “a basketball game.”
Both teams threw caution to the wind and served up a treat in the North Riding Senior Cup tie, with Guisborough eventually winning 9-5, after leading 6-2 at half time.
Morton said: “I used the game to give squad players a full game and it showed, some are not good enough. We got it back to 3 2 at one stage but it was like a basketball game and we missed several good chances as did Guisborough.” And with some understatement, he added: “It was an experimental side.”
Guisborough manager Chris Hardy wasn’t entirely happy with his team’s performance and said: “It was a very strange game, we should have been 10-0 up at half time. I've come away very disappointed we conceded five.”
