Shildon maintained their unbeaten start to the season when they beat neighbours Bishop Auckland 3-2 at Heritage Park yesterday.

Both sides had chances in the first half but Bishops had to replace their injured keeper, Scott Pocklington after 30 minutes, so full back John Jury went in goal.

Despite that change, Bishops took the lead on 42 minutes when Andy Johnson curled the ball into the top corner.

Shildon levelled on 58 minutes when there was a push in the box, and Anthony Bell scored from the spot.

Six minutes later in front of a 499 crowd, Bell fired the second, but Bishops got back into it again when Johnson scored from a corner. However, with three minutes left, Micky Rae headed in from a deep cross.

Consett dropped from second because they were beaten 4-2 at Seaham Red Star.

Luke Proctor, Robbie Bird, Craig Lynch and Paul Gardiner scored for Seaham, while Danny Craggs scored both goals for Consett, who never recovered from going two goals down.

South Shields won 2-0 at Penrith, with goals by David Carson and Jon Shaw.

North Shields beat Newcastle Benfield 2-0. They took the lead with a header by Jordan Summerly on 19 minutes, then Jack Devlin chipped the second with ten minutes left.

Ashington drew 1-1 with Morpeth. Ashington took the lead on 57 minutes through Andy Bulford, but Luke Carr levelled for Morpeth from the spot with five minutes left.

Ryhope CW drew 1-1 with Sunderland RCA in their local derby. Mattie Weirs scored for Ryhope, and Colin Larkin for the RCA, both goals coming in the second half.

In the second division, Stockton Town are now four points clear after they beat third placed Easington 2-0, with goals by Kallum Hannah on 70 minutes and Tom Coulthard with a penalty on 84 minutes after Easington’s Chris Freeman had been sent off.

Willington won 1-0 at Tow Law, Jason White scoring their goal.

Northallerton hammered Darlington RA 6-4. Chris Tarn gave the RA the lead after just 4 minutes, but then Mark Sims scored twice in three minutes to put Northallerton into the lead. However, Daniel Pigg quickly levelled, and then Christian Holliday put the RA into a half time lead.

But then Northallerton scored four times through James Muir, Josh Knox, Mark Sims and David Onions, before Tarn pulled a goal back.

Heaton Stannington won 2-1 at Alnwick. Gary Dixon and Dan Robinson scored twice in as many minutes at the start of the second half for the visitors, with Jordan Miller replying.

Blyth Town had a great local derby at Bedlington, winning 5-0.

They scored four times in the first half through Gary Day (3) and David Robinson, and with five minutes left, Chris Lisle added the fifth.

Ryton drew 1-1 with Whickham. Ryton took the lead through Adam Chrostowski, but David Clasper levelled for Whickham.
