Brandon nearly caused an upset against Bedlington in the Camerons Brewery Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup tonight losing to a last minute goal.

Bedlington took the lead midway through the first half through Tony Stephenson, then Marc Walton scored the second from a Marc Dummett pass.

But Brandon hit back in the second half, and levelled with goals by Kieran Duffy-Weekes and Lewis Turnbull.

But just as extra time was a strong possibility, Walton got the winner for Bedlington from the penalty spot.

In the ENL First Division, Newcastle Benfield lost 2-1 at home to West Allotment Sean McRoberts put Allotment ahead after 8 minutes, but Carl Paterson levelled for Benfield. However, Kyle Dobson got a valuable winner for Allotment, that lifts them out of the relegation zone and puts Durham into the bottom three.

In the second division, Sam Moore and Gavin Cox were on target for Ryton and Crawcrook as they beat bottom club Stokesley 2-0.

Hebburn beat third bottom Birtley 3-0 thanks to first half goals by Marc Costello and James Talbot and one near the end by Calvin McMahon.
