Dunston UTS are hoping to become the second ENL team into the quarter finals of the FA Vase when they go to Glossop in their delayed fifth round tie on Saturday.

North Shields are already into the last eight, and if Dunston, one of the favourites to win the Vase, are victorious today, then they will be at Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the next round.

Manager Billy Irwin has an idea of what to expect today from the North West Counties League side, and said; “I saw them play Worksop in the last round, and it’s obvious that they’re a good team, but I don’t think they’ll be any tougher than Heanor, whom we beat last time. They were a big and physical throughout the team, and there won’t be many more teams around like that.

“We’re playing well at the moment. The players are full of confidence and working hard for each other. They’ll take this game in their stride, I don’t think the week’s delay will affect them.

“We’ll also have a good following there, our supporters’ bus filled up as soon as it was available.”

Irwin’s only absentee will be midfielder Dan Smith, who played for Hebburn earlier in the competition.
