MANCHESTER CITY (4-1-3-2): Hart 7; Zabaleta 7, Kompany 7, Mangala 7, Kolarov 7; Nasri 8 (Lampard, 70), Fernandinho 7, Toure 8; Silva 9 (Navas, 60, 6), Dzeko 8, AGUERO 9 (Bony, 60, 7). Subs (not used): Caballero, Demichelis, Clichy, Fernando.
NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-3-3):
5 KRUL: Conceded five times, but made a couple of great saves to deny the score from being higher;
3 Janmaat: Saw a good chance sail wide with the score 1-0, but he allowed Silva to get the better of him;
3 Coloccini: Lost Dzeko for his goal and didn’t get close enough to Silva for his first
3 Williamson: His bad pass led to Anita conceding the penalty and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game
4 Haidara: By no means Newcastle’s worst offender, but he never really got to grips with Nasri;
4 Sissoko: Tried to be positive when he got on the ball, but it wasn’t enough to spur the Magpies on
3 Anita: At fault for the first goal when his poor touch led to a foul on Dzeko and he never recovered from there
3 Colback: Misses the next two games after a petulant moment earned him a tenth booking of the season;
4 Perez: On the periphery for large spells of the game and Man City’s superiority made it difficult for him to have an impact
5 Cisse: Worked hard and almost scored with a superb volley, but he was starved of support and service
3 Gouffran: Offered very little going forward as he spent most of the game pegged back in his own half
Subs
Abeid (for Anita, 46): It was always going to be difficult to make an impact with his side 3-0 down. 5
R Taylor (for Janmaat, 71)
Obertan (for Gouffran, 86)
Not used: Woodman, Ameobi, Riviere, Armstrong.
Man of the match – DAVID Silva – There were a number of star performers for City, but the Spaniard’s two goals and delightful assist put him above the rest.
