RAFAEL BENITEZ has made five changes to his Newcastle United side for this evening's Premier League game at West Brom.

The Magpies manager was unhappy with his side's performance in Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Watford and has shuffled his pack extensively as a result.

The most notable alteration comes in goal, with Karl Darlow promoted for his first start of the season in place of Rob Elliot, who is dropped to the bench.

There is one change to the back four, with Chancel Mbemba recalled at left-back ahead of Javier Manquillo.

Benitez has dropped both of his central midfielder from the weekend - Jonjo Shelvey and Mo Diame- with Isaac Hayden set to play alongside Mikel Merino at the heart of midfield.

And the final change sees Dwight Gayle making way for Ayoze Perez, with Newcastle set to revert back to the 4-2-3-1 formation that was Benitez's preferred system up until the last three games.
