FORMER Newcastle United full-back Vurnon Anita has signed a three-year deal with Leeds United.
Anita’s Magpies contract expired at the end of last season, and despite being a regular presence in Newcastle’s starting line-up last term, the right-back, who can also play in central midfield, was not offered a new deal on Tyneside.
He held talks with Turkish club Galatasaray last week, but was approached by Leeds officials after discussions broke down.
His representatives met with the Leeds hierarchy earlier today, and he has subsequently signed on at Elland Road as a free agent.
Anita made more than 150 senior appearance after joining Newcastle from Dutch giants Ajax in 2012.
