NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):
3 Darlow: Can’t have made many worse mistakes than the one that gifted Jerome a goal, and was nervous throughout
8 YEDLIN: Caused no end of problems as he rampaged down the right-hand side and is becoming a key player for the Magpies
4 Lascelles: Partially redeemed himself with a late equaliser, but was all over the place as Norwich scored twice in the first half
6 Clark: Tried to hold things together at the heart of the back four and bailed out his team-mates on a number of occasions
5 Dummett: Was slow to react as Murphy slid in Norwich’s opener and was unable to shore up Newcastle’s left-hand side
8 Shelvey: His searching long ball helped set up Perez’s goal and he dissected the Norwich defence on numerous occasions
5 Colback: Found himself overrun for much of the first half and was hauled off for Diame before the hour mark
7 Ritchie: Powered into the box on a number of occasions and was unfortunate with the shot that hit the underside of the bar
8 Perez: Scored one goal and set up the other as he produced one of his most effective performances for quite a while
6 Gouffran: Worked away diligently enough, but wasn’t really able to ask questions of the Norwich defence
6 Mitrovic: Got himself into some excellent positions, but lacked a touch of composure in and around the six-yard box
Subs:
7 Diame (for Colback, 54): Helped drive Newcastle forward in the final half-hour, even though he was playing in a deeper role than usual
6 Atsu (for Ritchie, 70): Made a difference as his pace enabled him to power past Norwich’s tiring defenders 6
Gayle (for Mitrovic, 75)
(not used): Elliot (gk), Hanley, Gamez, Hayden.
Man Of The Match: DEANDRE YEDLIN – His surging runs down the flank were a key factor in the second-half renaissance that enabled Newcastle to claim a point.
