MIDDLESBROUGH have given the go-ahead for Martin Braithwaite to return to France to sign for Bordeaux.
The £9m signing from Toulouse has found it harder to get into Boro's starting line-up under Tony Pulis despite emerging from the bench against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.
Now the Denmark international, who has an eye on the World Cup, is set to return to France on loan with a view to a permanent deal next summer.
Braithwaite started off brightly at the Riverside but injury dented his flow. Garry Monk used him a lot but he has never held down the lone striker role he prefers.
Middlesbrough could also lose Ashley Fletcher to Sunderland before the deadline tonight.
With the futures of Braithwaite and Fletcher in doubt, Pulis is sure to be considering alternative attacking options.
