Lloris 6; Walker 7, Alderweireld 7, Dier 6, Davies 6; WANYAMA 8, Dembele 8, Alli 7 (Winks 87); Eriksen 7, Son 8 (Sissoko 80); Kane 7 (Janssen 90).

Subs (not used): Vorm (gk), Onomah, Wimmer, Carter-Vickers

MIDDLESBROUGH (4-5-1):

8 VALDES: Made a string of fine saves to foil Spurs, but could find himself in trouble with the FA after striking out at Alli

7 Chambers: Stuck to his task and would have been relieved that he didn't come up against a rampaging Danny Rose

6 Bernardo: Blighted a solid display with the trip on Son for the penalty. There were no complaints from the defender

7 Gibson: A real test against Kane but stood up to the England striker to enhance his growing reputation

6 Fabio: Got forward at every opportunity but had little joy against Walker and found himself pegged back more often than not

7 Traore: His pace troubled Spurs all evening without the final end product. Would have been some foot race if Rose wasn't sidelined

6 Forshaw: Had his hands full in the engine room with Spurs swarming all over the Boro midfield. Ran out of energy and was replaced on the hour mark

5 De Roon: Held his head in his hands after volleying just wide deep into injury-time. Booked

5 Clayton: Did not stop working but part of a midfield overrun

5 Downing: Left isolated on the left-hand side and no surprise to see him hooked moments after the opening goal

5 Negredo: Battled as a lone striker with little joy. But will be kicking himself for planting an early header over the crossbar in a rare foray forward

Subs:

5 Guedioura (for Forshaw, 62): Saw a shot fly high and wide on a quiet debut

5 Stuani (for Downing, 62): Made little impact after his introduction. Not the answer

Bamford (for Traore, 78)

(not used): Guzan (gk), Ayala, Leadbitter, Gestede.

Man Of The Match: VICTOR WANYAMA - Power and poise in middle of the pitch. A towering presence where nothing got past the Kenyan midfielder, who looks a steal at £9m.
