MIDDLESBROUGH are only one point above the relegation zone after Hull stunned Liverpool earlier in the day but Aitor Karanka is relaxed about being dragged deeper into the relegation battle.

"It was another good performance against one of the best teams in the league," said the Boro boss.

"We knew at the beginning of the season we were going to fight until the end and we are in a good position playing well.

"The most important thing for me and the reason I'm so positive is because I have a team that is 150 per cent committed."

Harry Kane insists Tottenham have the squad to cope with a hectic fixture list.

The England striker's second-half penalty earned Spurs the 1-0 win over a resilient Boro side, their first game of six in 22 days in February.

Tottenham travel to Liverpool in the Premier League next weekend before a two-legged Europa League tie against Gent either side of an FA Cup fifth-round trip to Fulham. Mauricio Pochettino's men then complete the month with a home game against Stoke.

But Kane is confident Spurs have the depth to fight on all three fronts.

"I think we've got a stronger squad than last season," Kane told BT Sport 1.

"We can definitely rotate players and keep players fresh. If we want to be a top team, we'll have to cope with it (the busy schedule).

"We want to win trophies and hopefully we can."

Saturday's victory meant Tottenham reduced the gap behind leaders Chelsea back to nine points but they were made to work hard by relegation-threatened Boro.

"We created the chances, it was just we weren't finishing them," said Kane.

"We're delighted with the win. It was a difficult game. No games are easy in the Premier League so we'll take a 1-0."
