ADAM CLAYTON is hoping for a home draw in the FA Cup fourth round – even though his dad would rather see Middlesbrough handed a trip to Old Trafford.

Having claimed a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, Boro will discover the identity of their fourth-round opponents this evening, with the draw, which will be televised on BBC Two and BT Sport 2, due to start at around 7.10pm.

Boro will be ball number 14, and having made the most of home advantage at the weekend, Clayton is hoping for another home tie.

The midfielder is not worried about the prospect of facing one of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’, but would like to remain on Teesside on the weekend beginning January 28.

Clayton said: “It doesn’t really matter who we get. We’re a Premier League team, and we’ve shown we can play against the best teams and win. We’ve shown we can upset teams, and if we get an easy draw, they can just as easily go wrong.

“Whoever we do get, it’ll be exciting. My only wish is that it’s at the Riverside so we don’t have to go away. We enjoy playing at the Riverside, and it’s nice to play in front of our home fans. If we can get a home tie against anyone, I think we’ll be a threat.”

Last year, Clayton was a member of the Boro side that won at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the League Cup, and as a native Mancunian, the midfielder accepts his family will be hoping for another trip across the Pennines.

He said: “I’ll sit and watch the draw – I always do that. I’ll have a bit of a text with all of my mates and my dad – he’ll want United at Old Trafford again I suppose. We’ll see who we get, but I’m sure we can do well.

“We’re in the next round, and whoever we get, I don’t think they’ll fancy facing us. We’ll be confident against anyone.”
