BURNLEY (4-4-2):
Heaton 6; Lowton 7, Keane 7, Mee 6, Ward 5; Boyd 6 (Taylor 84), Marney 6, BARTON 7, Arfield 5 (Dyer 75); Vokes 5, Gray 6 (Barnes 81).
Subs (not used): Robinson (gk), Duff, Darikwa, Jones.
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Konstantopoulos: Couldn’t be faulted for Burnley’s dramatic late goal, but was slightly shaky as he came for a couple of crosses
7 Nsue: Was switched back to right-back and responded with another fine display of defending that frustrated his opponent
8 GIBSON: Performed superbly throughout, and must have thought he’d helped Boro win it as he produced a fantastic late block
8 Ayala: Is back to the form he was displaying at the start of the season, and ensured Vokes barely got a kick
7 Friend: Excellent for more than 50 minutes – but the hamstring injury that forced him off is a major concern for the games that remain
7 Leadbitter: Had to walk a tightrope after clattering into Barton early on, but retained his composure superbly in an influential midfield display
7 Clayton: Another hugely effective performance from a player who should have been on the Championship Player of the Season shortlist
6 Adomah: Crashed a first-half strike against the crossbar and was unlucky with a series of effective crosses
8 Ramirez: Maintained the extremely high standards he has been setting recently and troubled the Burnley back four all evening
7 Downing: Looked much more effective switched to his natural left-hand side and delivered the set-piece that led to Boro’s goal
8 Rhodes: Won a succession of headers against the Burnley back four and took his goal superbly to make it three in four days
Subs:
6 De Laet (for Friend, 54): Looked comfortable slotting in at left-back and made an important second-half block from a goalbound effort
Forshaw (for Ramirez, 75)
Kalas (for Downing, 90)
(not used): Agazzi (gk), de Sart, de Pena, Nugent.
Man Of The Match: BEN GIBSON – Both of Boro’s centre-halves produced excellent performances, but Gibson shades the honours thanks to his excellent late block.
