HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-1-4-1):
5 Loach: Fronted up to the fans at the final whistle and took their anger after he was as disappointed as anyone with the outcome;
3 Donnelly: Away with Ireland for the next two games, will only be missed as Pools are short of bodies at the back. Again shifted position and contributed nothing to the performance
5 Watson: A promising and solid start before he was soon engulfed by the ineptitude of those around him
2 Harrison: Skinned once embarrassingly and got away with it, second time he didn’t escape as Flyde scored. Put out of his misery through injury
4 Adams: Charged forward to try and support the attacks, but did an awful lot of chasing and tracking back;
4 Featherstone: Deep-lying midfielder happy to go sideways and sideways again. Needed to be a leader when the chips were down;
3 Donaldson: Again a major let-down, didn’t get involved and failed to get forward and offer support to the front man. Contributed nothing of note
3 Munns: Yet to show any of the form which everyone spoke about when he signed. Bogged down in the middle of the pitch. Contributed nothing of note
3 Newton: Ran, chased and got about the pitch without any positive influence on the game. Contributed nothing of note
4 Franks: Found space on the left side of the pitch in the first-half, and almost created an opening for Munns. Little space or chance to attack in the second half;
4 Cassidy: Support from deep was non-existent in the lone striker role. Never got into the opposition penalty area and there was nothing to work with.
Subs:
Richardson (for Harrison 45): Not the ideal scenario for a teenager to make his first appearance of the season. Never hid 5
Rodney (for Munns 63): An extra striker, but didn’t get involved at all. A spectator 3
Hawkins (for Munns 63): Introduced as Pools again changed formation and was on the edge of the game 3
(not used): Woods, Deverdics.
AFC FylDE (4-2-3-1): Taylor 5; Bond 6, Grand 6, Tunnicliffe 6, Francis-Angol 6; Montrose 7, Finley 6; Muldoon 6, Jones 6 (McCready 76), Hardy 7 (Smith 72); Rowe 7. Subs (not used): Lynch, Blinkhorn, Ezewele.
