1-0: Fenwick (34, close range volley finished crisply after good work from Thomas on the left)
Bookings: Jackson (43, foul); Jacobson (45, foul), Ugwu (90, foul)
Referee: Mark Brown (Hull): Rarely good, more often bad and very much indifferent. Didn’t endear himself with anyone inside Victoria Park 3

HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-4-1-1):
8 Carson: His flying second half save to deny Wycombe from a free-kick was vital and he was alert and commanding throughout again;
7 Richards: Has made a really positive impact in two games since returning from a back problem. Gets up and down the right side with determination
8 HARRISON: His best show of the season, strong and dominant in the middle of the back four – and how he had to be
8 Jackson: Like his centre-half partner he had to be switched on throughout and he never let his standards slip
6 Carroll: Again looked brighter in possession and appears to be playing with the confidence that was missing from his game in recent weeks;
7 Oates Ran himself into the ground on the left side, was shattered in the closing stages after a thoroughly solid outing
7 Featherstone: Getting on the ball and prompting Pools and making them play. A couple of slack passes caused worry, but using possession intelligently
6 Woods: Formed a decent understanding with Featherstone, a nice balance in midfield. How he didn’t score only he will know after bursting into the area in the second half
7 Thomas: A very promising debut – a direct threat on the left side and if he can keep that level of performance up then Pools will have some player;
6 Gray: Played a supporting role from an advanced midfield spot, got forward when he could to support Fenwick;
7 Fenwick: Neat, well-taken finish from close range and, while he was isolated at times up front alone, he never stopped.
Subs :
Hawkins (for Thomas 55): Asked to help shore the midfield up when Pools were under pressure 6
Bingham (for Gray 78)
(not used): Bartlett (gk), Walker, Oyenuga, Jones, Smith.
WYCOMBE WANDERERS (4-4-2): Ingram 7; McCarthy 6 (Udumaga 68, 5), Pierre 7, Stewart 7, Jacobson 7; Harriman 6, Bloomfield 5 (Hayes 79), O’Nein 7, Wood 6; Ugwu 7, Thompson 5 (Amadi-Holloway 68, 5). Subs (not used): Lynch (gk), Jombati, Bean, McGinn.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Scott Harrison – dominant in the middle of the back four, back to his best on his last two performances
