RONNIE Moore has made his second loan signing in 24 hours to add to his Hartlepool United squad.

Jake Gray, a 19-year-old central midfielder from Crystal Palace has moved to Victoria Park on a month-long youth loan.

He has been granted permission to play in the FA Cup against Cheltenham on Saturday, along with centre-half Adam Jackson, who signed from Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

Moore said at this morning’s press conference before the deal was announced: “We have at least one more in for the game. It’s getting permission for the FA Cup from the clubs, that’s a problem as clubs don’t like young lads being tied down.

“We have made a lot of calls, both me and Sam (Collins).

“There’s a knock or two in the squad, but I don’t want to say for now. One or two are 60-40 against. It’s important to get new blood in.’’

Of Jackson he added: “Adam can play, we spoke with Boro and he can play. He gives us something extra, and I know we’ve spoke about experienced centre-backs regularly, but then if there’s none out there then you have to get the best kids in and that’s what we have done.

“He is strong and knows the game, reads it well – a bit like when I had Ben Gibson on loan at Tranmere. Luton won’t allow Magnus to play  in the FA Cup and he also has an injury to his foot, so we have got a young lad in who is on top of his game at this time.’’
