Hartlepool manager Ronnie Moore says his players must learn from their recent losing streak, after stopping the rot against Cambridge United last weekend.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Yeovil, Moore feels Pools have looked promising in recent weeks, but a lack of shutting up shop has cost his team points this season.

"I could be sat talking to you with us on 18 points, we're on 10.” Moore said.

"We've been in all the games, but it's been about putting that wedge in, stopping the run of defeats.

“We drew but I think we deserved more than that, at least we got a point, and now we can push on.”

Pools suffered last minute heartbreak at the hands of Exeter City in a 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park two weeks back, and Moore feels that will prove a steep learning curve for his players in the months to come.

"We have been in games and lost them, that's why we've had no draws.” Moore added.

"We've not been able to see games out, sometimes you have to realise if you can't win then don't be going gung-ho and leaving yourself open.

"We should have had a point at Exeter, at least. It's about learning if you can't win, get a point. A point anywhere is good.”

Moore will be hoping to get back to winning ways against a recently-relegated Yeovil side, and is hoping loanee Andrew Boyce can continue his impressive form of late.

Boyce, his loan from Scunthorpe United extended to a second month, has looked to have fitted in well in the Pools back line in recent weeks, and after adjusting to life at Victoria Park, Moore now feels the player is finding his feet well.

"It took a couple of games for Andrew Boyce to realise what we want from him,’’ said Moore. "HIs fitness levels were not as good as they could have been through lack of games.

"He's finding his legs now and he's done brilliant, especially the last couple of games, he's been outstanding.”

After making his first clean sheet for the club on Saturday alongside Scott Harrison in central defence, Boyce will look to add another to that list this weekend, and Moore believes he will prove a vital asset for Pools.

"Boyce's dominant, he's a good size, that's what you need at this level with some of the big sides you are going to come up against,’’ said Moore.

"He knew he was going to get an opportunity, that's why he's come.

"Him and Scotty Harrison have developed a massive understanding."

Meanwhile, Rakish Bingham could miss today’s trip to the South West.

He is suffering from a hamstring strain and, with a lengthy journey to consider, boss Ronnie Moore is thinking of leaving Bingham behind when the team sets off this morning, to make sure he is fit for next Tuesday’s home game with Bristol Rovers.

“Rakish is feeling his hamstring –he’s a little bit tight, so we leave him until the last minute because a hamstring problem it’s sometimes not worth taking a risk,’’ admitted Moore.

“And you don’t want to be taking him down there for five hours on the bus and five hours back and we will have a real good look at him and if he misses this one, then he should be OK for Tuesday.’’

Bingham’s absence would mean a likely start for Scott Fenwick at Huish Park.
