SCOTT HARRISON admits there’s no room for error this evening for Hartlepool United.

Pools go to Oxford on the back of Saturday’s win at Morecambe and a repeat outcome tonight could see the gap to safety down to a mere three points.

Ronnie Moore’s side have had the chance to cut the deficit in recent weeks, but failed to secure back to back wins when needed – most recently two weeks ago when they gave a feeble show in defeat at Dagenham two days after seeing off Wimbledon.

Harrison, man of the match at the weekend in a solid three-man defence, said: "In the past we have got within touching distance.

"It has happened too many times, to get a win and then ruin it again next game.

"We need to win Tuesday - there is no other way about it. The games are running out now, we know that.

"The win on Saturday proves that it can change quickly. We have won away from home and kept a clean sheet.

"There is no reason why we can't do that again.’’

And, with a steely determination among the squad after a first away clean sheet in over a year and only their third victory away from home this season, Harrison added: "All the lads are looking forward to it and we want to get another result.

"We all came off and looked at the other results, like we have been doing in recent weeks.

"Thankfully, the results have gone our way and we can get another result and claw the gap back a bit more."

Pools suited their 3-5-2 set-up at the Globe Arena and are likely to stick with it this evening.

They gave a fully committed display and Harrison said: "Everybody played their part. When you are at the bottom, you can't not have everyone doing that.

"You have to put your body on the line and get the ball away - it doesn't hurt you, the adrenalin is flowing through your body!

"I enjoy playing three at the back, we go into a three when we are attacking and me and Dan see more of the ball and get out easily.

"When we are defending there are five of us and it can be quite compact.

"We now have to win again, the boys know that.

"There is no reason why we can't go down there and do it. Everybody was buzzing after the match.

"Second-half, when you get a victory like that, there is no better feeling."

And he added: "I think 3-5-2 works well for us, you can play out the back easier and when you are defending you have five at the back.

"It makes it easier for us, I think.’’
