HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-2-3-1):

6 Flinders: Not afraid to come off his line and clear amid a busy penalty area, even though he escaped on a couple of occasions;

8 DUCKWORTH: Relished scoring his first goal with a double somersault celebration and was full of bounce and energy all game

7 Harrison: Strong and firm defending throughout as he worked well alongside Neil Austin, who was moved into the middle

6  Austin: Impressed in central defence, like he did against the same opposition in the same competition last season

6 Jones: A solid outing at left-back for the teenager, looked confident from start to finish on his first start;

7 Green: An impressive debut in the middle of the park, got about the pitch well and wasn’t afraid to get forward and in amongst it

7 Miller: Looked much happier sitting in a two-man central midfield spot, popped the ball around well and passed with authority;

5 Brobbel: Encouraging first-half as he got forward out wide, although final delivery wasn’t up to standard and faded in the second period

6 Woods: Enjoyed his start playing off the front man in an advanced position in the middle

7 Hawkins: A rare start after endless substitute outings and was full of energy in a spot on the right side of a three-man attacking line;

6 Wyke: Worked away and shouldered the responsibility of playing up front alone. Took the knocks that come with it.

Subs:

Walker (for Green 74)

Smith (for Hawkins 86)

(not used): Holden, Franks, Richards.
