DARLINGTON will hand a debut to a goalkeeper on Sunday after making a loan signing from Hartlepool United today.

Ben Dudzinski will start Sunday’s FA Trophy with Marine tie between the sticks after Martin Gray brought him in to replace Peter Jameson.

Quakers’ usual No. 1 begins a three-match suspension after being red-carded for violent conduct during Darlington’s defeat at AFC Telford United last weekend, but Gray moved fast to bring in a replacement.

“I spoke to Craig Hignett, the Hartlepool manager, last weekend and I’m delighted that we got it firmed up quickly,” said Gray.

“He’s a big lad, he’s local and he’s played in the reserves for Hartlepool regularly and done very well, he comes highly recommended from the goalkeeping coach there.

“They got him from Durham University after a recommendation from Chris Moore, who runs the university team.”

Dudzinski, 21, signed a contract with Pools after impressing on trial. He has previously played semi-professionally for Kingstonians before re-locating to the North-East for his studies at Durham University during which he also appeared for Tow Law Town, Ashington and Durham City.
