  • Bedlington Terriers v Darlington - 3pm - Craig Stoddart reporting
  • Plus - updates from Felstead v Yarm in the Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase

4:57pm

Hartlepool 0 Walsall 0

Very tame, flat and uninspiring. Six games without a goal for Pools, who drop bottom of the table now.

4:52pm

Bedlington Terriers 0 Darlington 4
A deserved win for Darlington who are now 26 points clear at the top of the table. Goals came from Terry Galbraith with a penalty, two from David Dowson and one by Steven Johnson in the 89th minute. That’s nine clean sheets in 14 games now.

4:48pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Steven Johnson makes it 4-0, taps home the rebound after David Dowson’s shot had been parried by keeper Kevin Morton. 11 goals for Johnson now.

4:40pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
David Dowson makes it 3-0, finishing with a first-time effort on 77 minutes. 3-0 and game over now. Darlington have sent on three subs, including Jordan Robinson for his debut.

4:38pm

David Dowson with his 16th goal of the season puts Darlington 2-0 up after a turn and shot following a cross by Stephen Thompson on the right.

4:33pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington

Darlington remain 1-0 up with 75mins gone against ten-man Bedlington Terriers, who are still in this. Attendance is 420.

4:31pm

Hartlepool 0 Walsall 0

Sub for Pools - Franks off, James on. Nothing else happening.

4:28pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Very, very close to an equaliser as Bedlington’s Mark Doninger curls an effort narrowly wide. Chris Emms had conceded possession with a sloppy pass. 70mins, 1-0 still

4:24pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Little of note has occurred since the red card aside from a long shot by Stephen Thompson. He cut inside from left after receiving Joe Tait’s pass up field and fired a shot from 30 yards that was way off target. As long as it stays 1-0, ten-man Bedlington have a chance, but it’s Darlington enjoying more of the possession. 25mins to go.

4:12pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Bedlington's Colin Morton is sent off for a second bookable offence. The second was for barging into Terry Galbraith on 53 minutes.

4:09pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Two minutes into the second half and a decent save by Quakers keeper Mark Bell to deny Mark Doninger who had struck the ball cleanly. Soon after at the other end, Chris Emms saw a shot pushed away by keeper Kevin Morton. 51mins, 1-0.

3:48pm

Hartlepool 0 Walsall 0

Both teams have a lot more to show in the second  half. Pools on top, Monkhouse their better player so far.

No goals for Pools in five and a half games now.

3:47pm

Bedlington Terriers 0 Darlington 1. Has been one-way traffic for the most part. Only goal tho’, a Galbraith penalty on 20mins.

3:42pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Perishingly cold here, yet five Darlington players are in short sleeves – all four defenders plus midfielder Jonny Davis. Commendable or stupid? You decide. 42mins, 1-0 to DFC.

3:35pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Two efforts for Darlington in a short space of time. First, Chris Carr heads over to block a Stephen Thompson shot.
And then a Stephen Harrison shot thundered towards goal, keeper Kevin Morton pushed it away, but Amar Purewal lifted the loose ball over the bar over the bar under pressure from Carr. 35mins, still 1-0 to DFC.

3:28pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Mark Bell makes a low save from Richard Pell at a corner, the keeper gathering the ball at the feet of Phil Bannister. Still 1-0 to DFC.

3:25pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Was a smashing penalty by Terry Galbraith. He hammered the ball into the roof of the net, as he has with his previous four successful penalties. He’s missed one, saved by Shildon keeper Keith Finch, that he tried to pass into the net.

3:24pm

Hartlepool 0 Walsall 0

20 mins in. Not a lot to report. It's windy.

Walton close with a low shot, and a Walsall corner held up in the wind and almost caught out Flinders.

Pools are fairly bright and shading it.

3:21pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Darlington 1-0 up on 20 minutes. Terry Galbraith with his fifth penalty for the club after Andrew Leeson had used his hands to block Stephen Thompson’s shot.

3:19pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

YARM WIN 17-15

3:18pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Another good save by Morton to deny Galbraith. On 17 minutes Galbraith curled in a free-kick, won after Chris Emms had been fouled by Richard Pell, that Morton leapt to his left to push away for a corner. Most of the action at the Bedlington end so far. Still 0-0.

3:13pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Ten minutes in and Terry Galbraith is denied by Bedlington keeper Kevin Morton. The midfielder unleashed well-hit low shot from distance that was pushed around the post for a corner. Good effort and good save.
A minute earlier Bedlington’s b-force almost created a goal. After left-back Leon Scott had missed a header, Paul Brayson chipped the ball across for Phil Bannister, but the ball was just an inch or two or high for the unmarked striker.

3:08pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

CONVERTED! Guthrie. Felsted 15 Yarm 17.

3:07pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

3:03pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

Felsted 15-10 up with a break, William Malins with some decent footwork. All to do for Yarm now, 12 to play.

2:56pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington

Need to stop taking Martin Gray’s word for granted. He told me Jack Norton played on Wednesday in Bedlington’s defeat to Whitley Bay in the Northumberland Cup semi-final. Turns out Norton didn’t. A lad called Kevin Morton played instead. Sounds similar, but different bloke altogether. Thanks, Martin.

2:54pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

Hartigan goes over for Yarm, unconverted but Yarm are level. 10-10. 21 to play

2:53pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington

Darlington are bidding to record a 12th successive win and doing so would strengthen their position at the top of the table.

They are hoping to go 26 points clear of Spennymoor Town, who do not play in the league today due to playing in the semi-finals of FA Vase. By 5pm, Moors will have nine games in hand on Quakers.

Bedlington’s form has been poor, having won only one of their past ten games and they have dropped to eighth in the table.

In October Darlington defeated Bedlington 3-1 and in goal for Quakers was Jack Norton who joined Terriers after being axed by Martin Gray, but he is not playing today.

Norton was Darlington’s keeper at the start of the season and he made 20 appearances, during which he made a couple of penalty saves and kept six clean sheets.

He has since been replaced by Mark Bell who has kept nine clean sheets in 13 appearances.

2:47pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
Captain for Bedlington Terriers is former Darlington midfielder Mar Convery and while the hosts have been hit by financial worries of late, they retain some more than capable players.
Right-back Craig Baxter and striker Phil Bannister have both caught the eye this season, as has Paul Brayson who has netted 20 goals.

2:43pm

Hartlepool v Walsall

Andy Monkhouse starts and there's a return for Ritchie Humphreys. James Poole (knee) and Nathan Luscombe drop out from Tuesday's defeat at Oldham.

At a windy and brutally cold Victoria Park, Pools are running out of games to salvage something. Massive improvement needed from Tuesday's show.

2:36pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

Felsted 10 Yarm 5

Yarm struggled to start with, but after a 20th minute try looked much the better side.

2:36pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
There is no place for Adam Nicholls in the Darlington team for today’s game. He started last Saturday’s win at Ashington, but he drops out of the squad altogether with Amar Purewal taking his spot in the starting XI.
Quakers are otherwise unchanged as they bid to record a 12th successive win.

2:24pm

Bedlington Terriers v Darlington
In position here at Dr Pit Welfare Park where it’s bitterly cold and the floodlight pylons are shaking in the gale-force wind. Teams to come shortly.

2:22pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

Yarm back in it, Zach Kibirige going over. Unconverted, but Yarm cut the deficit, 10-5 now.

2:19pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

Felsted 10-0 up after Josh Hunter-Jordan dances over. Unconverted once again, however.

2:06pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

Felsted draw first blood, Charlie Kingham bundling over from the scrum. Unconverted, mind, so it's 5-0 to the Essex boys.

1:57pm

Richard Mason - Felsted v Yarm, Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase Final -

It's snowing here. Not a lot, but it's coming down. It'll merely make it all a bit more mushy on the surface which is conducive to a good old game of rugby. Which is handy.

Teams about to come out here. I will provide score updates if my frozen fingers permit. Literally, fingers crossed, eh?

1:55pm

1:54pm

Good afternoon to you all. While the snow has blighted the UK, for once the North East has escaped the worst of it. There are postponements, but our main games - Hartlepool-Walsall and Bedlington-Darlington are very much on, so it's business as usual here.

As an added bonus, we've got live rugby updates from Twickenham as Yarm School play Felsted in the final of the Daily Mail RBS U18 Vase.
