JOHNNY Hayes is attracting interest from Hartlepool United - and another of Neale Cooper's transfer targets was yesterday made available.

Cooper is out to bolster his midfield and Inverness left winger Hayes is high on his list of targets. He is out of contract this summer and has been offered a new deal, but looks set to move on from the SPL side, bossed by Terry Butcher.

Aberdeen are also interested and Cooper faces strong competition from one of his former clubs for the signature of the Irishman who has an impressive 24 goals in 99 appearances.

The Pools boss has already signed Middlesbrough's Jonathan Franks to play on the right wing and is also after a left winger and a central midfielder.

Tommy Miller, the former Pools midfielder, was yesterday told he was not getting a new contract with Huddersfield, three days after helping the Terriers into the Championship.

Miller missed the first spot kick in the marathon penalty shoot-out against Sheffield United at Wembley on Saturday but was a regular at the back end of the season following a spell out following a double hernia operation.

Pools are keen on taking him back to Victoria Park and Miller is open to the idea.

He was one of eight, including winger Gary Roberts, to be freed yesterday by boss Simon Grayson.

Miller, 33, scored 44 times for Pools from 1997 to 2001 before a £750,000 move to Ipswich .

James Brown, released by Pools is attracting interest from both Gateshead and Bury, where his former Victoria Park team-mate Ritchie Barker is manager.

Notts County are front runners to sign Gary Liddle after the midfielder opted to turn down Pools' contract offer earlier this month, ex-Pools coach Colin West is on the back room staff at Meadow Lane.

Meanwhile, Pools yesterday passed the 1,000 barrier for season ticket sales. Tickets are priced at £155 for adults with a prize draw of £15,000 up for grabs if they sell 5,000 by July 31.

Under-19s can buy them for £75, under-16s for £50 and over60s £125.

Seats can be guaranteed until June 1 and the Victoria Park ticket office is open until 6pm tomorrow.
