JORDAN Burrow struck a sweet hat-trick and that wasn’t enough to seal Gateshead a place in the third round of the FA Trophy.

Despite Burrow’s heroics, Boreham Wood grabbed a dramatic equaliser in the fifth minute of added time at the end of the game through Bruno Andrade to earn a 3-3 draw.

Gateshead had to come from behind to take the lead during a frantic finish to the game having struggled to really make an impact in the opening 70 minutes.

After a goalless first half Boreham Wood took the lead six minutes after the break when Kieran Murtagh beat Scott Hanford from six yards. Four minutes later Kane Smith extended their lead with a 25 yard drive.

Then Gateshead staged their fightback. Burrow hit his first goal in seven matches and he added his second soon after when he headed in Preston’s cross.

Heed then took the lead when Burrow powered another header into the net from Scott Barrow’s centre, only for Andrade to convert the late penalty to earn a replay after he had been fouled himself.

YORK City moved back into the National League North play-off positions following a 2-1 home victory over Bradford Park Avenue.

Jon Parkin’s 25th goal of the season and a second-half effort from sub Amari Morgan-Smith earned the Minstermen a fourth straight victory despite Adam Boyes' stoppage-time reply and saw the hosts leapfrog their opponents into the top seven.

Sporting director Dave Penney, the former Darlington boss, expressed his delight after a victory which extended City's winning run to four games and lifted the team up to sixth in the National League North table.

"It's great to win four on the trot as it quickly moves you up the league," said Penney. "We are delighted with that and it has backed up what we did against Darlington last week.

"If you have got form, you wanting to be taking it forward. We have got a bit of momentum now which we want to carry on. When you are winning, you want the games to come thick and fast, and they certainly are this week."

Penney has revealed that the club is trying to bring Alex Pattison back on loan from Middlesbrough but also confirmed that midfielder Simon Heslop is back in the fold.
